I haven't had Joules wellies but I know of someone who has and said they had to take them back as they were so awful!

Doradolittle · 19/04/2016 18:25

Bought some joules ones last autumn. Leaked by Christmas.
Took them back and got whole 'are you sure it's not coming in from top?' spiel. And was patronised with 'well, I'll believe you' when I said of course not.
Had lost my receipt so they wouldn't exchange and I had to fork out another £20 to replace with a new pair.
I was assured that they'd changed the design and that these ones wouldn't leak. Time will tell.

Apparently the older ones leaked because of having to comply with new biodegradable regulations...sounds like they were prematurely biodegrading!

My joules wellies have been great! As have my hunters.

The inside sole of a pair of Kurt Geiger boots came away within a few weeks, I returned them to be asked by the shop assistant "do you have particularly sweaty feet?". Lovely!

Joules is a fashion brand, and crap at making anything that might serve a useful purpose.

Yabu for buying joules wellies in the first place.

BikeRunSki · 19/04/2016 19:19

Joules did start life as an equestrian brand though. Their wellies did used to be excellent.

MerlinsBeard87 · 19/04/2016 19:44

Happened to me also. They replaced my 1st pair, 2nd pair just as bad so given up on them. Concluded they are just pretty wellies for show and not for practical use at all

ScrumpyBetty · 19/04/2016 19:47

I used my Joules wellies to walk my dog, after 3 months they were leaking and the inner soles/ lining was coming loose and rubbing the back of my feet. Rubbish! What are SeaSalt wellies like, does anyone know?

Evergreen17 · 19/04/2016 21:03

My joules are great Blush
Had them for some three years and I am a biologist so use them to go in rivers and all
But they should all be good so if yours are not you should defo complain. Twitter is good for that

Gide · 19/04/2016 21:28

Bikeskirun try Jileon, up to 50cm calf, more actually, cos they're huge.

Joules wellies are rubbish, love their polos, tho. I second Dunlops.

HostaFireandIce · 19/04/2016 21:36

Yup, mine leaked too. My Hunters, despite being made where they're apparently made now, are still going strong after years of heavy use.

Rhythmisadancer · 20/04/2016 14:04

My joules wellies split. Then they leaked

FlyRussianUnicorn · 20/04/2016 14:05

Argyles are great. Mine must be 15 years old.

Chippednailvarnish · 20/04/2016 14:27

I've just bought some Crocs wellies in the sale, apparently they roll up!

NHSisfubar · 20/04/2016 14:29

Did a lot of research on this with farming friends: Aigles or Muckboots apparently. I went with Aigles and they are so comfy and warm. Well worth the money. Hunters no good since they changed production

Janecc · 20/04/2016 15:32

Last pair of Aigles wellies lasted about 8 years - I don't wear things hard and mainly on fields. Probably would have lasted longer if I had cleaned and sprayed them with the stuff sold by Aigles to protect wellies. Current pair of Aigles around 2 yrs old and going strong. Used for dog walks twice daily in wet/cold weather. I google to get the best price. Current ones around £100 thermal lined with side split. Expensive but £12 a year easily spent on uncomfortable cheap, cold wellies.
