Do they seriously have so little to talk about they need to trawl the threads on MN for stories. He doesn't even like us, he likes the glittery shit on the other side!

I like the show but do find it a bit disturbing when familiar thread titles pop up.

It's just lazy journalism, like the newspaper articles when people have died and the are full of Facebook quotes.

It's a reminder that whatever you say on the internet is in no way private. Mumsnet has quite an intimate feel but you'll be on a thread with maybe 20 other posters and maybe 60 posts and it'll pop up in the most active list and 9 thousand people might have read it. And then it gets linked to on Facebook and then it's on tv.
I have had some great advice on here but don't think I would put myself out there again. It just isn't as intimate as it feels

I'm starting to get wary about posting as you see more and more MN posts being used on FB/TV etc. I only found out a wee while ago that there was a MN fb page and when I checked back the post's one of mine was there, it was a baby name thread and I'm glad I decided not to mention my own dc's name.

That has just been on here this week surely. They don't plan very far ahead on the WS! I would have thought MNHQ (who I believe own everything posted on here) would be the ones with the right to complain.

It's not 'lazy' journalism at all.

It's modern journalism and research.

When you have billions of thread subjects/opinions/experiences, that affect everyday people in their everyday lives, at your fingertips, why wouldn't journalists and researchers use internet chat forums for their subject matter?

They do normally, yes. Unless the name contains a swearword.

I've been quoted a few times, as have many other names I recognise. I can't see why it matters though, unless you use your real name, which no-one does.

Because the chance that someone in real life has heard a bit of the same story and makes the connection - and then knows your username.
The same info could be found out on mn by doing a search, but the chance of my mil being on mn versus the chance of her watching the WS...

I think its funny somebody who thinks he is a serious journalist has to get his topics from a random off the internet his smugger than smug face bothers me i hardly ever watch it.

I have it on. I have no idea who any of the panel are, but disappointed no Anthony Costa this week. i always like to hear him debating the important stuff.

I think it does us good to have that reminder every now and then, especially as we need to drum that into our children too.

I work in medicine with other medical professionals and I honestly think a lot of people on here are uneducated, how else do they have the free time to write so much crap??
