I'm watching question time and she is literally making me cringe.
Is it just me?

Oh she is pompous (and not very good)

Chippednailvarnish · 07/04/2016 23:03

I don't actually even listen to what she is saying as her delivery feels like a party political broadcast by the cbeebies party.

Oh dear, the guy with the hat 😜

dulcefarniente · 07/04/2016 23:05

I met her a while back and was impressed with her in person, but subsequently every time I've heard her on radio or television my good opinion has been eroded a little bit more. Very disappointing.

Sistersweet · 07/04/2016 23:05

I've met her in person and she's every bit as pompous as she comes across on TV

PurpleDaisies · 07/04/2016 23:06

Referring to Chris Bryant as "darling" was totally patronising. I find her really irritating generally.

Chippednailvarnish · 07/04/2016 23:06

Guy with the hat must have been doing it for a bet!

I agree.

But then I feel anti-feminist because I realise that I have higher expectations of women in politics than I do of men.

BirthdayBetty · 07/04/2016 23:07

Nods in agreement.

Behooven · 07/04/2016 23:07

she must be capable or she wouldn't have such a senior position, but she does channel Mrs T a little

HeadFullofSteam · 07/04/2016 23:07

Is that guy off his face?

MrsBungle · 07/04/2016 23:08

Dh met with her recently and she called him "love". He is not a fan of her.

HeadFullofSteam · 07/04/2016 23:08

Oh ffs, I meant hat guy.

Chippednailvarnish · 07/04/2016 23:08

I don't think I do have higher expectations of women, it's just her.

Ruth Lea doesn't make my teeth itch!

Hat guy is v enthusiastic.

PurpleDaisies · 07/04/2016 23:09

she must be capable or she wouldn't have such a senior position

I don't think that necessarily follows... Smile

HeadFullofSteam · 07/04/2016 23:10

I agree she definitely channels Mrs T.

WavingFlag · 07/04/2016 23:12

I remember when she used to be on "this morning" with Richard and Judy. She was crap then too. I don't remember her doing political stuff on there tho.

Chippednailvarnish · 07/04/2016 23:12

Stop saying "Chris", grrrrrrrrr.

OP posts:
YabuDabbaDoo · 07/04/2016 23:13

Confession: I've been furrowing my brow thinking "Mr T's wife was in politics?!"

I've worked it out now.

SouthWestmom · 07/04/2016 23:13

She is really off putting and pompous.

SouthWestmom · 07/04/2016 23:14

Who's the woman on the end?

megletthesecond · 07/04/2016 23:14

She is.

I hope Irvine starts swearing in a minute.

Behooven · 07/04/2016 23:15

Ruth Lee, an economist I think

Chippednailvarnish · 07/04/2016 23:18

Ruth Lea
"Ruth Lea, 51, read economics and statistics at York and Bristol before joining the Civil Service. In 1988, she became senior economist, then chief economist, at Mitsubishi Bank. She left to join Lehman Brothers, then spent a year as ITN's economics editor. She was appointed head of policy unit at the Institute of Directors in 1995"
