Pre kids, I stupidly purchased some laura ashley velvet cushion covers for our living room.

They now, 2 years on, look incredibly grubby.

About a year ago I took them to be dry cleaned and it didn't make much difference. When i commented on some marks on them they shrugged 'We don't spot clean them'.

I want to clean them again- AIBU to put them in the washing machine on a cold wash?

I would - what's the worst that can happen? Iron them on the wrong side though!

We have velvet and tapestry cushions from John Lewis. Big things- one side velvet, one tapestry. They were a fortune - by my standards anyway at about £40 each 10 years ago. Says dry clean. I just throw them in on a 60 wash and they are fine.

And they get tumble dried.

Think I'm just going to do it. If the worst happens Im going to have to go to Dunelm!

I would!
In times of doubt such as yours I'd go for my own trusty advice......
Low temp and put them in a magic pillowcase :)
Good luck
