To be so worried about this?

Hi all. Been ttc for a little while now. Had us and bloods which showed probable pcos. Got GP appt on Monday but I'm just so worried about this. I have anxiety anyway and it's not helping. I have periods every 50 to 70 days and I'm on day 55. I'm terrified I can't have kids and my hormonal blood tests showed high male hormone. I've hardly slept and I'm so worried. I know aibu but I can't find perspective in this

I can't help massively.

I was diagnosed after I had kids. It's took over a year to conceive each time. But I have two amazing kids. I had period problems but had been on the injection pill which sorted them out. So never went further into investigation of why there was a problem, until dh had the snip and I came off the injection. The only time I was off it was while ttc and pregnant.

Since being diagnosed I have received lots of help and advice. Got slimmer, healthier. Everything has clicked into place.

I have several friends who have pcos and all have kids. Mostly they all had treatment before ttc and were successful. One got pg while waiting for her results.

Just remember it's not the end of the world to have pcos it can range in severity. and at least if you know you can move forward with treatment.

It's not easy to hear. But try not to worry until you know all the details. for you.

I was in a similar position with long cycles. I was overweight however. Eating healthily and reducing my weight did reduce the length of them to around 30-35 days

We ended up seeing a fertility specialist through the NHS and I was prescribed Clomid to stimulate ovulation and combined with us it was possible to determine the best possible days to conceive. On our third cycle we conceived and now have bouncy ds.

The other recommendation was giving a low gi diet a try this may help too. There is a pcos book for dummies that got me into it.

Please don't panic it might just take a bit longer to conceive.

I have pcos. Diagnosed after ds2 after i basically threw a fit about ex doctors shitness and refusal to help. Took 15m to have ds1 26m for ds2. I was hugely fat. I was a size 22 and 18st 4. I had tried diets etc but only ever lost weight when pregnant and on insulin for gestational diabetes. Finally got onto metformin. Its 3 years on and im a 14, and have 12st 7 and also 31w pg with dc3 who took 4m to concieve. Periods now regular life just better. Depression is strongly linked to pcos i didnt know that but its all fallen in line for me

Its not a life sentence, metformin helped me there is also clomid and surgery should you need it. PM if you have specific q's.

I have pcos, was diagnosed at 16 and told I would never conceive naturally. 20 years later I have 2 yo dd who was a complete surprise after a contraceptive failure. Never really thought too much of it as the "experts" told me it couldn't happen. Had also never tried.

Please try not to worry. As others have said, if you are overweight then try to lose some and up your exercise. Metformin helped me for a while but I wasn't able to cope with the side effects of it as it uses lactose as a bindi agent and I am allergic.

It isn't as awful a situation as you think!

I have pcos and 2 children. It doesn't have to be as worrying as you think it is.

My dsis has pcos. She has 3 gorgeous ds's. First two conceived within the first 3 months of trying.

Victoria Beckham has pcos and she's got 4!

When I was having dd 15 years ago I was on the ward with a lady who'd been TTC for 9 YEARS (Well they'd basically given up and just weren't using contraception as it seemed unnecessary AND her husband had problems too) she was a very large lady and didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labour.

Several friends with it too who've got dc.

Pcos here too. Two dd with clomid, first cycle both times.
Now take metformin for weight (healthy bmi since being on it for 4+ years).

Hello thanks ladies. I'm 5 foot 3 under 9 stone and a size 10 so not overweight. Only thing I've noticed is my upper lip needs waxing more since coming off pill. The blood results didn't look way out but still abnormal. My lh is 16 and fsh 7. My androgen was only 0.1 higher than the max and my testertone was 2.4 if them numbers mean anything. I don't have acne and I'm not excessively hairy either! Glucose and thyroid levels came back good.

My GP seems good. She did mention clomid and if needed we will go private to quicken the process up

I have PCOS and have three DC. I needed clomid to conceive the first two, the third was a complete surprise.

I only have one period a year, if that. Longest I've gone between is 22 months, so it was very hard to track fertile period for conception. Clomid helps by releasing eggs, the first two cycles didn't work though, both times I conceived on the third round. Unsure if it works the same now, as was over 13 years ago, but I had to go for blood tests on the 5th day to see if I had ovulated and then wait for a period if I had. Such a very stressful time, but totally worth it.

Thanks ladies. I've heard clomid may need tweaking a bit but if it's not severe can work quickly.

Yes it does, they increase the amount each time if you don't ovulate.

I'm another with pcos and a DC. Had up to 90 day cycles before having the contraceptive implant for three years and then wham bam, as soon as it was taken out I conceived on my first cycle.
