To think that this was rude

bonnyisfat · 20/03/2016 18:46

Today I was wearing a tunic and leggings and was standing waiting for a bus when a lady stood behind me and loudly said 'OOH look at them bonny legs' Hmm

Would you have wanted to tell her to shut up? So embarrassing and rude.

It wouldn't have bothered me tbh. I can't get worked up about things like this.

WorraLiberty · 20/03/2016 18:52

Maybe she thought you were the Mad March Hare and said 'bunny legs'?

LittleBearPad · 20/03/2016 18:52

Are you older than 6 months. If so yes it was bloody rude.

DobbyTheFreeElf · 20/03/2016 18:53

YABU
Nothing wrong with having attractive legs.

RudeElf · 20/03/2016 18:53

Yep rude. You dont comment on someone's appearance.

tilliebob · 20/03/2016 18:53

Well as long as it was Bonny and not Bandy, I wouldn't really care Grin

WhatDat · 20/03/2016 18:54

Was she definitely talking about you?

ApocalypseNowt · 20/03/2016 18:55

Was she with someone else? Maybe she said "Oooh look at them Bonny....legs!".

Maybe her friend is called Bonny and really likes legs.

Grin
ilovesooty · 20/03/2016 18:56

Well if you thought she was out of order why didn't you tell her? I'm sure it wasn't meant maliciously and your user name rather indicates that you've misunderstood the word anyway.

CarsonTheButler · 20/03/2016 18:56

Are you sure she was talking about you, OP?

Chinks123 · 20/03/2016 18:58

It's a compliment..what's to get wound up about?

waitingforgodot · 20/03/2016 19:02

Stealth boast? Or maybe she was saying boney legs

arethereanyleftatall · 20/03/2016 19:02

No, that's called a compliment. The opposite of rude.

I'd call that a compliment and be delighted.
There's no pleasing some people Smile

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 20/03/2016 19:06

As per your username, do you think she was calling you fat?

ptumbi · 20/03/2016 19:07

Hmm, she said oooh look at those lovely legs? Bonny is scots, I think, and is a compliment.

Yes, YABstupidlyU to be upset by a compliment.

bonnyisfat · 20/03/2016 19:07

She was DEFINITELY talking to me. I'm afraid I did find it rude, although I wasn't rude in response - just smiled weakly as I found it quite mortifying to be honest!

'Bonny' is to me definitely a 'nice' way of saying fat.

OP posts:
bonnyisfat · 20/03/2016 19:08

Yeah well shockingly I don't want anyone commenting on my legs Hmm but they are not lovely. At all.

Madbengalmum · 20/03/2016 19:08

YADBU!!!

ollieplimsoles · 20/03/2016 19:09

stealth boast...

shockthemonkey · 20/03/2016 19:09

Bonny is a compliment. Unless she actually said "bony" and there was a typo in your OP.
