AIBU to ask coach to stop?

DD1 is on a school trip today. On the way there the coach stopped at services and after they all got back on DD discovered she'd lost her brand new glasses (she's had them two days!) She texted me, and after much chasing round and ringing the coach company I managed to find which services they stopped at and have rung head office to see if glasses have been found. I'#m still waiting to hear back from head office.
Meanwhile DD is back on the coach and heading home, she has asked if coach can stop at the services again so she can go and ask, driver asked the teacher, and teacher said no.
Is this such a massive ask to ask them to make a 10 minute stop or AIBU?

I think YABU I'm afraid, though I sympathise. The driver will be on a schedule. Parents will be waiting. There's no way it would take only 10 minutes. You need to go there yourself at the weekend.

If they have left the services and are heading home then yes it is a massive ask.

Can you access the other side via a bridge? Have they found the glasses yet?

DH (teacher) wouldn't stop to look for them but would stop if they were found and ready to be collected.

Depends on if they need to be back for something I suppose. Can't you ring the service station and ask them to send them to you if they've been found?

I think the OP means they will be passing the services again on their way home, if this is the case then I don't see why they can't stop for a minute and let her run in.

Service station won't answer the phone but head office are finding out for me if they've been found. Yes, services can be accessed from both sides of the motorway, so not a detour. Driver was willing to stop - it was the teacher who said no!

I think you are BU. It would always take more than 10 mins and presumably parents will be waiting to collect.
There are practical issues as well. How old is your DD - could she/would she be allowed to leave the coach on her own? Would a teacher have to go too? Are there enough staff to cover that - or would the whole coach have to be let out as well. This wouldn't have been included in a risk assessment for the trip. A slight delay may mean getting caught up in heavier traffic, meaning a longer delay etc.

YABU. No guarantee the glasses are there, no guarantee there will be access to the side of the road they stopped at going the other way this morning.

It wouldn't be a 10 minute stop anyway, all the kids would be overcome with the urgent need to pee and it would put 30 minutes plus on the journey which would also mean they would hit rush hour/school run time delaying them further. It's not really fair to expect the other parents to suck up the delay.

I think you'll have to run up there over the weekend.

Sorry you are right I miss read it, it does depend then on the actual services and if they are easily accessible but yes if they are they should stop.

i think its a big ask.

Your dd needs to learn to keep her glasses on all the time, or wear one of those strings around them if she cant. Sometimes opticians will replace childrens glasses I think for not too much.

It wouldn't take less Tha 10 minutes unless they've been found and someone comes out and waits for the coach with them.
They need to park properly. Your DD and a teacher would have to go in and look around. And that would be right over the bridge. No guarantee your DD knows where they are, even if she thinks she knows she could easily be wrong or someone has moved them or handed them in- which could be any of the little shops.
Then add to it the children on the coach getting restless while they're waiting, probably t least a couple wanting the toilet. Another one discovering he has £3 in his pocket and is determined to spend it...
Heck, stopping just with my 3dc for only a toilet stop would take 15 minutes. Stopping with a class full could be much more.

Yep, the more you say, the more I think you're right! Unreasonable! Hopefully they will post them if they turn up.

it might seems like its easy for them to stop and just pick them up, but a big coach full of tired school kids after a day out nothing is easy and I cant see it taking less than 30 mins. they are probably due to be back at a certain time.

Yabu. It's not 10 minutes. They are in a schedule.

Do you really expect them to be late back?

What about the parents say waiting for them to return?
