To share a lazy mum invention.... 2 minute pizza

Genius invention today . DS aged 4 wanted pizza for lunch. I sometimes let him make them but it takes about 25 minutes by the time over has heated up and pizza cooked.
Today we didn't have pizza so I took a Warburton Thin, toasted it added stir in pasta sauce, a sprinkling of grated mozzarella and ham to eat side and microwaved for 30 seconds until the cheese bubbled. Done. 2 mins total and yummy.

Well I do something similar with muffins, put toppings on & in the oven for 12 mins x

1hamwich4 · 10/03/2016 20:09

Just boring bread toasted, spread with ketchup and grilled grated cheese is very popular with us.

EastMidsMummy · 10/03/2016 20:11

YABU to pass off your obvious quasi cheese on toast as an "invention."

arethereanyleftatall · 10/03/2016 20:12

I go for a whole meal pitta bread toasted, then tomato purée, then kids add own toppings, normally corn, cheese, tomato, then grill.
Am I kidding myself that this is much healthier than pizza??

TheDuchessOfArbroathsHat · 10/03/2016 20:12

Microwaved bread? I'm afraid that sounds the very epitome of gopping to me.

Allyoucaneat · 10/03/2016 20:14

We do it in with tortilla wraps, tomato puree and a few mins under the grill. Perfect.

nippysweetie82 · 10/03/2016 20:15

I use tortilla or naan bread for a quick pizza for the kids

dontpokethebear · 10/03/2016 20:16

I do it with wholemeal pitta too. I rub a garlic clove over the pitta, then tomato purée, mozzarella and whatever topping the kids fancy.
My favourite is olives and anchovies Grin

beardsrock · 10/03/2016 20:16

Sounds alright to me.

pourmeanotherglass · 10/03/2016 20:19

We use plain naan bread, comes out well.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 10/03/2016 20:20

I make wrap pizzas. Use tortillas as the base, bung them in the oven for 10 minutes. Excellent!

Lovepancakes · 10/03/2016 20:21

arethereany I'm always confused by pizza being thought unhealthy as its ingredients are no different to say a cheese sandwich, pasta with cheese or cheese toastie so therefore ehy is pizza the one seen as unhealthy and its tomato aspect is possibly quite healthy Confused?

We do have pizza a fair bit and prefer making it ourselves too and your wholemeal touch sounds very healthy! Ours have to be gluten free.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 10/03/2016 20:23

Bagels (preferably onion) toasted under the grill, spicy cheese, chopped pepper and chicken pieces added and put under the grill again. Yum!

bornwithaplasticspoon · 10/03/2016 20:29

I've done this with bread, crumpets, wraps, pittas, miffins, bagels but the best by far is baguettes.

I'm hungry now

Paulat2112 · 10/03/2016 20:30

Yep we love this :) Although i usually just use tomato puree. You can do it on a wrap, sandwich thin, pitta bread, muffin etc

TheAngelofNitshillRoad · 10/03/2016 20:33

I object to "wrap pizza"

That is not pizza.

middlings · 10/03/2016 20:34

muffins in our house - under the grill. Brilliant.

We do broccoli for hair, sweetcorn for eyes and red pepper for the smile. DD1 loves it!

UterusUterusGhali · 10/03/2016 20:37

I make a toastie with cheese, tomato, Italian herbs & a chopped up pepperoni.

I really want one now!

CleanHankie · 10/03/2016 20:38

Pizza using half a toasted roll was the most popular item for sale in the canteen when I was at school 20 years ago! Tomato puree, scattering of cheese, chopped mushrooms, sweetcorn and ham. Mmmm

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 10/03/2016 20:40

Our easy pizza type thing is a quesadilla. Two wraps, fill with whatever you want and some form of suitable cheese, bake/dry fry until crisp.

HelsBels3000 · 10/03/2016 20:41

Wrap pizza is how the Lean in 15 chap markets pizzas. I am not sold on this idea one bit.

bigbadbarry · 10/03/2016 20:44

You can't beat a crumpet pizza (tomato sauce on first so it goes in the holes).
cleanhankie I read yours as half a toilet roll. Tasty.

chillycurtains · 10/03/2016 20:51

I have to say I would never microwave ham. Hmm I am not convinced by the microwave pizza at all. Sounds soggy but done under a grill maybe?

BrandNewAndImproved · 10/03/2016 20:53

I microwave cheese on Crackers. Mate its amazing and so much less faff then cheese.on toast or a cheese toastie.

bigbadbarry · 10/03/2016 20:57

Do you know I completely missed the microwave stage? I'm not sure either. My lovely crumpet pizzas (toasted crumpet, tomato puree, possibly ham or peppers but usually nothing, cheese) have to go under the grill.
