To want a "thank you"?

I've had a group of ds1's friends here since 9am. It's his birthday and we have been to the cinema, with snacks, and for lunch afterwards. 2 of the boys have just left and I'm a bit Hmm that they didn't say thank you.

AIB a bit precious here? I always tell my dc to remember their manners and say thank you when they've been to a friends house ...

How old are they?

Sparklingbrook · 07/03/2016 17:31

YANBU. It's manners isn't it?

BillBrysonsBeard · 07/03/2016 17:32

YANBU, manners cost nothing!

gBean · 07/03/2016 17:32

They're 12.

YANBU
consider it a learning point for your DS
you now think less of them/or you wonder about their upbringing

How old are the children? Would they be young enough to need a parent to prompt a thank you?

I would expect a thank you, and when my ds1 (6months) is old enough for this type of thing will remind him to say thanks before I drop him off.

I remember as kids my usually very naughty brother was always super polite to his friend's parents. So much so they couldn't believe he terrorised my mother. If he could manage it I'm sure these lads could.

Yanbu, manners cost nothing.

Then no YANBU, always encourage mine to say thank you & they are much younger.
Out of interest, why aren't they at school?

MatildaTheCat · 07/03/2016 17:37

YANBU. I can't stand rudeness. So basic.

gBean · 07/03/2016 17:37

Training day today and as its his birthday I offered to have them all day.

Aww. Last boy just left "thanks for having me, it's been great".

My faith is somewhat restored Smile
