to want to move?

Moved to new town (well, I went to high school here but left 15 years ago) 10 days ago. So far I can only conclude that I hate it. How likely is it that this will change? AIBU to consider cutting our losses and moving on...

Where are you? Why did you move there in first place? Did you research at all? Seems a bit bonkers to be considering upping sticks after 10 days!

Are you renting? It would be easier to move if you were I guess.

Not renting, unfortunately. We're in Suffolk.

Yes, did lots of research - my parents continue to live nearby and we've visited the town a lot and did at least 6 months house-hunting and ample web investigations (schools etc). The issue is that a lot of the research (esp. toddler classes) appears to have suddenly become out of date. I've had too many phone calls saying that the website (showing things running during Spring 2016!) is wrong and that due to the lack of commitment in the area they've stopped running things.

A perhaps more significant issue is that I don't really feel safe around here. This is supposed to be the 'good' side of town but after walking to the park and the local Aldi last week I won't be repeating the experience. DH met neighbours a few nights ago who confirmed this is most definitely the 'right' end of town.

Its hugely disappointing. My question is - will these niggles go (e.g I drive everywhere rather than walk and activities for toddler will improve once he's at nursery/school) or are they likely to just be added to? In which case I think its best we cut our losses...

I don't know but I moved last year and I am selling my house to move back. Massive losses but I feel happy about the idea of moving rather than staying. Nevermind the losses.

I think you have to stay in your new house at least for six months before selling for fraud prevention.

Don't make a rash decision. I would say give it a year, experience all seasons. If you feel the same then, at least you know your tried to like it.

When people say something isn't running, ask why not? In a nice way. And volunteer! Join a baby group as a volunteer, be useful and calm and you have instant social acceptance :) And if you have no joy, ring your children and family service at the council and see what's going on in your area.
