To think "vaginal knitting" is just odd?

This came up on my fb newsfeed so apologies for the daily mail link.

Now I don't agree with the "let's bully her on Facebook" comment in the article or threats of violence but if you are going to sit in a room for a month knitting the world's longest scarf out of wool which you store in your fanjo then you should appreciate that not everyone is going to say "oh yes, such a statement on feminism!" Or wow! So artistic!

Because this is, quite frankly, odd. And if she was a friend of mine I'd tell her that. And I'd never want a scarf she had knitted either.

On the plus side, if she ever has a baby, it will be born fully dressed.

That is possibly the weirdest thing I've ever heard of! Confused

Eh? What? Huh?

I'm missing something here. How is she vaginal knitting? Is she storing the wall up herself?

Why?!

AdrenalineFudge · 29/02/2016 20:19

I agree it's very odd. I don't agree with the abuse she's received over it but I do put her in the same category as that actor who filmed himself in a lift in Oxford; Shia LaBeouf - both attention seeking.

IJustLostTheGame · 29/02/2016 20:20

I hate it when female artists use their genitalia to make feminist statements.

Women are more than a vagina.

OhShutUpThomas · 29/02/2016 20:20
Shock I thought she was using coloured will for part of it, but the stripes were menstrual blood Shock

I'm not sure I'd want to wear it. And I can't quite work out the mechanics of it.

But I do see the thinking behind it. Good on her, if that's what she wants to do.

seagreengirl · 29/02/2016 20:21

She's an artist, people didn't like Monet either in his time. You are not supposed to understand it, the online abuse is disgusting.

coffeeisnectar · 29/02/2016 20:23

I disagree that she's an artist. She's a woman who knits. My granny used to knit. But shoving wool inside you and sitting in a room for a month knitting makes you an artist? Nope. It's makes you attention seeking in the worst possible way.

It's about as artistic as Tracy emins bedroom thing.

She will probably win some bonkers award for it.

No that's just not needed....

When someone knits you do not NEED to place the wool inside you. Yes i agree it's attention seeking

seagreengirl · 29/02/2016 20:27

Tracy Emin is a member of the Royal Academy, she is one of the our most highly regarded artists.

CooPie10 · 29/02/2016 20:28

She's gross and attention seeking. Disgusting reallyz

CooPie10 · 29/02/2016 20:29

Really

Vintage45 · 29/02/2016 20:29

Is she a relative of "Sticky Vicky" Grin

Highsteaks · 29/02/2016 20:30

She's an artist, people didn't like Monet either in his time. You are not supposed to understand it

Grin Are you fanny wool lady herself?

Didn't someone do this a couple of years ago? So it's not even innovative.

Mamagin · 29/02/2016 20:32

Won't the wool be soggy? She must be using a centre pull ball of yarn. Trying to work out the mechanics .....

coffeeisnectar · 29/02/2016 20:34

I think it's the same woman from 2013 but she's getting fed up with people mocking her so is now knitting the words from tweets into her manky scarf.

And Monet. Did he wipe his willy in paint and then swish it over the canvas? Did he invite people to watch him Willy painting? I think not.

Tracy Emin might well be some well regarded artist. But I still maintain I could have transferred my teens room to an art gallery and achieved the same result.

Sparklingbrook · 29/02/2016 20:34

Not really comparable to Monet is she?

ouryve · 29/02/2016 20:34

I'd much rather use a yarn bowl.

I'm sure this happened ages ago. Or has the DM only just cottoned on? (Actually, hope she's not using cotton - it'd get stuck)

You sound like my FIL

roundmyway · 29/02/2016 20:36

I actually feel ill

Plateofcrumbs · 29/02/2016 20:36

It's art designed to be provocative. I say good luck to her.

Really? Is your dh still a slobby teen? :o
