To think the 'Disrespect NoBody' ad campaign is horribly sexist?

p4rmaviolet · 28/02/2016 21:22

Not sure if this has already been discussed but has anybody else seen the 'Disrespect NoBody' TV adverts that are supposedly raising awareness for healthy relationships and domestic violence?

Every single scenario in the advert is targeted at men abusing women whether it be physically or emotionally. Y'know because men are never victims?

Hikksta, how would you like us to deal with an influx of new posters who have joined to post attacks on us like this:

Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men.

Well done on being a bunch of cunts. Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men. Fuck the lot of you.

Thanks for proving that modern women are spoils entitled feminist infested fucktards. Women are constantly acting the victim yet when a man says something it's the worst thing in the world. Throw yourselves under a bus you utter cunts.

you hateful harridan cunts.
Fuck you.

?

Because out of the options available to us, I think humour is quite a good one.

I think, in view of your posts, joining a forum to tell women how to behave is a bit controlling in itself.

OhShutUpThomas · 05/03/2016 12:21

I'm shocked. Really shocked by the terrible cruelty here

Hi Hikksta. You still haven't acknowledged this -

Here are some examples of the abuse which has been directed at women on this thread. After reading them, I invite you to demonstrate where women have directed such abuse at men.

Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men.

Crazy middle aged women and ridiculous feminists

feminazi

termites

People like you piss me off and so yes I am going to tell you to fuck yourself. You are a blatant extremist regardless of whether your intentions to the cause are positive. I will call you a bigot because that's what most modern feminists are.

You people are severely fucking stupid aren't you

Not one of you has a leg to stand on outside of this jerk circle of women.

And this is without a) the deleted stuff that wasn't quoted, and b) all the low level misogynist shite such as 'Women CHOOSE to go into lower paid jobs.'

So go on - your turn.
Please do show me all the awful female to male cruelty on this thread.

FYI - disagreeing with men is not 'cruelty'

OhShutUpThomas · 05/03/2016 12:22

Cross post under!

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 12:23

Loved by god?

Okay, i get it now, you are a regular poster taking the piss. This cannot be serious!?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 12:24

Great minds, OhShutUpThomas.

OhShutUpThomas · 05/03/2016 12:27

It's very telling isn't it, that some men are so used to being agreed with and pandered to by women that they consider it abject cruelty when we do not comply.

Hikksta99 · 05/03/2016 12:28

A person wrote a mean message, and they seemingly did so out of trauma?

How do I deal with hurt people? Not by hurting them? It just creates an escalating conflict. Those comments weren't written in isolation but as part of a dialogue.

I'd like to make this clear - it is absolutely not sexist to say that you don't want to be abused.

And it's quite hypocritical too. If it is sexist for me to say that I don't like prejudice and abuse - how is it not sexist for you to say it?

If I say I have been hurt by abuse and that the gendered nature of the advert is hurtful - that is abuse? It is "controlling" of a man to not want to be demeaned, abused, beaten, belittled - because as a man I can criticise women?

I'm sorry. I can't engage with you any more. I'm really becoming hurt and upset. This is totally unhealthy.

I'm going to delete this account now and you can belittle me to your heart's content

Jasonandyawegunorts · 05/03/2016 12:30

Are you a chat bot?

Helmetbymidnight · 05/03/2016 12:31

Exactly, ohshutup

It is remarkable that you'd read the thread and see countless posts of vitriol and aggression from men against woman and yet come away thinking 'those terrible ladies should behave nicely'. How does that work?

Hikksta99 · 05/03/2016 12:32

You ridicule my faith as well? My reasons for compassion? My reasons for respect?

I didn't see these misogynist comments - but when you are belittling and cruel you must understand that these comments are formed out of your relationship with the other person. In cruelty you make cruelty

Helmetbymidnight · 05/03/2016 12:32

I thought you were going to delete your account?

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 12:33

Just had a realisation...
We've got through almost an entire thread of men coming in to talk over us without anyone sharing the "behold, a man has appeared" meme
Grin

Helmetbymidnight · 05/03/2016 12:34

I think they might take it the wrong way Grin

Normal common curtsey is that when someone politely tells you they don't like something, because it's offensive (Even if you yourself didn't realise), you apologise.

I am not going to apologise because someone took offence to a word that comes from Greek meaning foolish and has been used for centuries, used briefly at the beginning of the 20th century to describe adults who had a mental age of 8-12 but hasn't been used in that context for generations.
If you're offended then be offended.

3:40 is a good place to start.

"What happens if you say that and someone gets offended? Well they can be offended, can’t they? What’s wrong with being offended? When did stick and stones may break my bones stop being relevant? Isn’t that what you teach children? He called me an idiot! Don’t worry about it, he’s a dick.

Now you have adults going “I was offended, I was offended and I have rights!” Well so what, be offended, nothing happened. You’re an adult, grow up, and deal with it. I was offended! Well, I don’t care! Nothing happens when you’re offended. “I went to the comedy show and the comedian said something about the lord, and I was offended, and when I woke up in the morning, I had leprosy."

Nothing Happens. “I want to live in a democracy but I never want to be offended again.” Well you’re an idiot.

How do you make a law about offending people? How do you make it an offense to offend people? Being offended is subjective. It has everything to do with you as an individual or a collective, or a group or a society or a community. Your moral conditioning, your religious beliefs. What offends me may not offend you. And you want to make laws about this? I’m offended when I see boy bands for god sake."

Hikksta99 · 05/03/2016 12:35

Helmetbymidnight I have not seen those comments. I'm just talking about the way I've been treated in relation to my own trauma

And I'm not treating the individuals I'm talking with in a gendered manner.

But this board does have a cruel and damaged cultural behaviour. Part of that does involve self righteous victimisation of male posters justified by the abuse of women in society - as a political point - and not on the basis of personal pain.

This board is inflicting harm. That can be seen. It is not a safe space

Your faith, as all faith, is inherently misogynist.

84 posts to go

I wonder where they will go when this thread is full. Back to the feminism board?

PosieReturningParker · 05/03/2016 12:38

Hik. You are a parody aren't you?

My ironing board inflicts harm, it explicitly promotes child labour as it can be adjusted so small a child can iron. That is an promotion of child labour and slavery.

I'm going to start a petition.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 05/03/2016 12:38

Posie

What you said was disablist and offensive, i was very polite to you about it.
If you don't want to say sorry fine, but please stop bringing it up, it's long past.

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 12:40

That wasnt ridicule. Ridicule would be pointing out the juxtoposition of your "everyone is equal blah blah blah" with the position of your apparent faiths views on homosexuality.
I can go on, if you want?

PosieReturningParker · 05/03/2016 12:46

It's neither. If you don't like it, that's fine. I don't mind.

(I'm not bringing it up, I'm responding.)

Jasonandyawegunorts · 05/03/2016 12:48

What are you trying to do by turning a polite request not to use a word into a bunfight?

Is there a point?

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 12:49

Do i need to draw The Line again peeps? Grin
