To stay in flat with baby while it's being deep-cleaned?

More of a wwyd?

A cleaning team is coming for 4-5hours to shampoo carpets, deep-clean kitchen and bathrooms, dust, clean windows etc. It's a company I haven't used before so I don't feel comfortable leaving them alone in flat.
Would it be ok to stay home with baby and just move from room to room? Or should I go out for the afternoon?

I wouldn't feel comfortable not being there but wouldn't want to expose my baby to the chemicals either. Is there a communal area you could go and sit (either inside or outside - wrap baby up well, he/she will be fine)

I would go out! But I hate being at home when the cleaner comes-I feel guilty for not doing the cleaning myself and also as if I'm in the way.(Which I realise is absurd as I'm paying her to do the cleaning because I don't have time not because I can't be arsed-and it's not like you can really be in the way whilst sitting at your desk, working, in an area she doesn't clean anyway!)

No go out

I would actually cancel unless you can get a family member / friend to babysit or stay in the flat to supervise the cleaners. I wouldn't be happy having a baby in the flat while deep cleaning was going on.

Carpet-shampooing tends to involve fairly heavy-duty stuff I wouldn't be wild about exposing a baby to. Is there someone else who could stay and supervise?

EponasWildDaughter · 25/02/2016 14:30

I wouldn't stay in with a baby OP. You might fine there isn't the possibility of going room to room as they might have stuff going on in multiple rooms at once.

Not so bad for 1 adult to shift around, but not nice with a little one. Plus the chem's.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/02/2016 15:36

I highly doubt going room to room will work as they'll split up to clean different rooms at the same time

If you don't trust them, cancel

what 'chemicals' will they use that you don't normally use?

I did initially wonder how you deep clean a baby...
