We find out Mar 1st.

There is nothing at this point that can be done about the outcome for DS so I just want to wait and see. Not obsess about options.

It feels like all my friends and family want to talk about at the mo How do we feel, what were our choices etc etc I've been saying that we're just waiting to see but people are getting a bit huffy at the brush off.

You need new (better) friends.

We find out March 1st too. I've had lots of people go on, but they are other parents waiting or went through it last year. I've had people gleefully tell me that x or y school in a different lea have had different half term dates etc or are 'financially in trouble'. I just shrug it all off.

When I was choosing it was unbearable. Some parents took my decisions as a personal slight on their own choice. I never offered an opinion. I was just asked - a lot!

I am worried about March 1st because we live in an awkward area so no choices are sure winners, but there's nothing I can do about it right now.

I am like Harry. I am obsessing over next week even though I wasn't before half term. We are also in an area where we have six good choices but no sure fire winners. I am so nervous. I feel like if I made the wrong choice then I have effed up son's entire future!

We don't find out until April

Nyn - we only have 3 choices

I really not hoping for my third as neither me or dd were keen, however it's our nearest school so I put it down out of necessity. If I get a school I don't want, it may as well be on my doorstep type thing!

We went for the least worst choice, so fingers crossed. I feel out of my depth with all things secondary.

Fran - I'm bricking it and I can't work out why.

I enjoyed secondary school and got a lot out it including some great mates. However, even though I met lots of new people I started with a huge cohort from my primary.

My dd has chosen schools where not many of her friends will go. At the moment she's confident in herself and happy - I don't want this to change. It took her a while to feel 'herself' in her primary and I guess I'm worried of the first few terms to come. Exciting too.

I just hope to god we've made the right choice. We actually went for a school with not the best academic results on our form (but rapidly improving) because dd felt the most excited by it. It was the only school she walked around with a huge grin on her face. I'm hoping the whole gut instinct will mean a lot!

And I know how you feel. My parents regularly tell me we'll have to move so the children can go to better schools. In fact, they've been saying it for 7 years. This think we lived in a war zone the way they go on.

Harry, that's exactly what we did. She absolutely loved our first choice all the way round. I think you have to go with that. They will find their way, it's just so unknown. I went to a very different type of school with far better results, so I can't help comparing. DD will be striking out on her own a bit. I hope it will do her good. Eek!
