YABU. I've used a bread knife to carve meat before.

OhForCodsHake · 21/02/2016 18:25

Yanbu. I once caught BIL slicing a banana with my super-sharp, special Serrano ham knife. Why?! Furious!!

MrsHathaway · 21/02/2016 18:27

I've just done it.

Mitigation:

  1. We don't have a proper carving knife.
  2. A gammon joint needs a serrated edge.

My parents cut bread with the bread knife, then spread on the butter with the bread knife. And jam. It gives me the rage (but not as much as making Earl sodding Grey tea in our teapot)

OMG LTB!

Don't even let him pack. Just push him out the door. NOW.

Take custody of the bread knife first, it's blatently obvious he has no idea how to treat it.
