My legs have been freezing all day, despite wearing said tights. I think they trap cold in. They are JUST beginning to thaw out now

In this weather, forget tights. For me it's M&S thermal leggings under warm trousers, works a treat.

You want the John Lewis fleece lined tights. They are fab.
