To think I shouldn't have left 4yo in taxi?

Just had one of those 'I shouldn't have done that' moments. Ordered a mini cab to take me and DC (4) to station with suitcase. Got in, realised I'd forgotten to double lock door. Asked driver to stop (still outside house) and leapt out for max 10 secs with DC strapped in back. But it was silly wasn't it? Thankfully no harm done.

10 seconds isn't a problem. I thought you'd sent him off in a cab on his own on purpose or something.

No harm done as you say. The chances of the taxi driver being an opportunistic abductor are vanishingly small.

Well since minicabs are booked, it's not as though the taxi office wouldn't know who the driver is and where the cab is.

The fact all taxi drivers are DBS checked doesn't mean they aren't going to do anything bad in the future but you felt fine to do it, so it was fine to do it. If you chose not too again, that is fine again.

I've done that loads of times. dint see a problem. they text you the vehicle registration and colour and make round here. so if they did anything we have all the details and a contact number

I think the taxi driver would be more interested in getting the fare than taking your 4 year old!

I never leave mine in a cab OP. It's not abduction I'm nervous of, but it's those weird adults that I often encountered as a child, the ones who say things which make you uncomfortable.

You are being incredibly unreasonable to think that you should have unstrapped your 4yo, and hauled him out of the car while you turned a key in the lock

I felt like this after getting one for shopping, got DD in so she was out of the car park, helped driver put shopping in the back then ran the trolley back.

I had a brief moment of I shouldn't have done that too.
