Holby City - Jason - aspergers

I'm watching Holby at the moment and there's a young man on it 'who has aspergers syndrome'

My son has aspergers and is nothing like the way this guy is acting. Jason is asking odd questions and acting a little 'odd' for want of a better word.

Is is me? Are people with aspergers so different to each other?

The media do seem to struggle with Aspergers.

Drama depictions and court reporting tend to be equally dire.

I've read about this, and I think the actor actually has aspergers.

Media does tend to go down the route of using people's perceptions of autism when they show it in fictional TV.

However, everyone with ASD is different, so some people may present like this.

(I haven't watched it yet, so may change my mind!)

No, I must admit I haven't seen it either. Is it a specific episode or a new regular cast member?

He's Serenas long lost nephew.

I thought that was the girl in casualty last week who actually had ASD!
Saying that ... She was nothing like my son who has ASD. It's a spectrum disorder!!!

The actor is Kathy Lette's son and does have aspergers - she was Tweeting about it the other day.

ASD is as different as the millions of people who have it.

My three children all have it and are as completely different as any siblings differ. All their mates who have ASD differ from each other too.

I think i was thinking, well if its that then surely they arent that far apart in personality - but whenever we see people with aspergers on TV they are always a bit 'weird' - and ask questions that could be inappropriate...? My son doesnt do that

but this is something new to me, I dont really know anyone else personally with aspergers -

My 10 yr old has PDA and in places where he feels uncomfortable will ask very odd questions, and say strange/funny things. He's just young enough to get away with it. If he still does it in 10 years time, he will be very quirky and fun to be with :)

We suspect my other two boys have ASD, and they are all very different.
