Do you live in Paris? Travel advice?!

We are in Rennes soon and want to do a day trip to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame (and Adelaide the flying kangaroo hopefully), and planning to drive. If anyone lives in Paris and can help with some recommendations about roads to avoid, where to park, where to get lunch, good place for amazing cakes near those places I would be really grateful! I hoped to park somewhere and walk to a metro station and use the metro during the day, metro rather than RER. Thank you!

Are you coming at the weekend, or in the week?
There are times when there is free street parking, but I think it's just on bank holiday weekends.

Don't live in Paris so cant help much, but consider the batobus between the Eiffle tower and notre dame. Fantastic way to travel between the two sites

Not in Paris myself (live further south) but I'm in a FB group with several mums who live and work there, you can PM me if no one on here can help.

Rennes to Paris for a day trip tho' ... you're going to spend a fair bit of your day on the road ...

Thanks for the replies - it will be a week day, Tannhauser. Any ideas on names of roads to put into satnav re parking would be amazing.

Thanks Mistigri, re the PM offer, and yes, a slightly mad idea probably!

Get the train. I think it's just over 2 hours and pretty frequent.
