Villages near Preston

Posting here for traffic.
We may be relocating to Preston soon and would like to live in the countryside nearby. Any recommendations for villages 30 minutes or less drive from Preston with at least a pub and shop? Thanks!

Kirkham, Singleton, Staining, Wrea Green...

About 40 mins away you have Poulton Le Fylde and the Over Wyre area as well

Treales is nice. Couple of miles from Preston I think and I vaguely remember there being a lovely thatched pub there.

Wrea Green is beautiful. Lovely place.

Poulton is nice but is quite big compared to the others. Kirkham's not that 'villagey' either.

Also, for info....

Treales is pronounced 'trails' and Wrea Green is 'ray green'.

Mellor

Garstang, Forton and Scorton and St Michael's are all nice and fit your brief.

Millstone at Mellor is an awesome pub. They do a lovely cooked brekkie.

Grimsargh, Londridge or depending on budget there are some beautiful villages in the Ribble Valley, although can be very expensive.

St Michael's is nice.
Wrea Green's quite insular. You'll still be "that newcomer" in 20 years
Warton's grotty. Although you'll have a good view of te Red Arrows when they're around and the aeroplane noise won't bother you really quickly.
Newton is quite nice, and Clifton too don't know Salwick at all.
Wood Plumpton used to be lovely.
Freckleton has nice areas. And I think one of the school's got outstanding a couple of years back. Used to have flooding problems, but they were solved a few years back.
Wesham used to be quite army.
Hambleton has the strangest wonky tennis courts I've ever seen.
Houghton we used to call Hogpen for obvious reasons...

Bretherton is lovely.

St Michael's was completely cut off in the recent bout of flooding. Don't remember that happening before now but my memory isn't the best. Is v nice though. I used to love going there as a kid.

The Croston, Mawdesley, Rufford area is nice, although Croston was flooded recently.

If you want to go south of preston - south ribble way Bretherton and Croston are lovely. Longton is nice to, not quite as picture postcard but a lovely village all the same and not as far out.
Slighty furthe out are Rufford, Parbold, Mawdesley -a bit more countrysidey.
You cold also consider towards Chorely = good transport links - places like Withnall, Clayton-le-woods.
