DH and I are very much in love, but my best friend doesn't like him and we had a little argument before where she said I would end up divorcing him and then my kids would have a stepfather!

AIBU to think even if I did split from DH, I wouldn't want to get married again? She's right as I definitely wouldn't want our children to have another man in their house.

I think most women think that they wouldn't remarry/have a live in partner if they split from the father of their children. A great many do though.

She's secretly in love with you and that's why she doesn't like your DH and is hoping you will divorce. But she wants to be your children's stepmother. She said stepfather to throw you off the scent.

I think after that conversation I might consider 'divorcing' my best friend. Unless she was drunk and wouldn't have voiced her opinion normally.

It wasn't an argument, it was more a general chat as we are TTC right now and I think she's worried unnessecarily of course.

Your friend is an idiot and the two of you really need to get out more if this is the type of thing you end up talking about. These kids you would never introduce to a theoretical new man don't even exist yet.

Loads and loads of divorced women remarry. Some remarry arses and were unreasonable to do so. Others remarry lovely men and are very happy. Your taste in friends suggests you might pick an arse by mistake so probably YANBU. Hth.
