to not buy ANOTHER pe kit

Ds1 who's 8 has 'lost' his pe kit at school again. The 3rd one since September. I've replaced them all so far but today I've stuffed an old pair of tracksuit bottoms in. School won't be happy as they have a logo on. All his items are labelled clearly and the are not in lost property so I'm guessing they are too lost for lost property or someone else has took them home.
AIBU or should I replace the kit again?

Replace it but say that any further losses will be paid for out of his pocket money.

NotTHEBupcake · 01/02/2016 08:58

Can you ask the school if they can sell you some second-hand kit from lost property?

MigGril · 01/02/2016 09:01

Don't replace with logo kit, school can't enforce this. And am so glad ours don't insist on it epically at primary. All generic from supermarket stuff is very cheap, a lot cheaper then logoed stuff and could be it's being pinched.

Is there anything in lost property without a name on? When DS2 lost his school coat in week2, because they knew it was labeled, they found us one in lost property. He was 4 tho.

Whatdoidohelp · 01/02/2016 09:28

I would replace the first lost kit but not this one! If he manages to not lose his school bag/coat etc it boils down to carelessness. Take it out of Christmas or pocket money. He will learn.

TattyDevine · 01/02/2016 09:33

Is it his fault though (this is mainly to the posters saying take it out of his pocket money). Can he help it if someone else is nicking it?

If he's left it somewhere around the school and it's misplaced for a while, fine, that's his fault, but in theory it should turn up somewhere if it is labelled. If it literally never turns up, it must be in someone else's possession.

I know in my school they don't have locked lockers, just pegs, and there is a parent who goes in occasionally and helps herself to stuff - how do I know this - she told me one night when she was drunk. (And yes, I waited till I saw her a couple of days later and told her that it was bang out of order0

Pretty sure some parents replenish uniforms and PE kit by taking it from lost property regardless of labelling. Some of my DC stuff has never turned up again and logic dictates that it has to have gone somewhere.

Three times in a short space of time suggests that someone is stealing it. If this wasn't the case, stuff would eventually turn up in lost property. I would replace with cheaper stuff with no logo. I suspect that this won't disappear.
When I was at school we had to embroider our initials in big letters on the front of all P.E. items. Interestingly nothing ever disappeared.

Slowlygettingthehangofthings · 01/02/2016 11:40

What can the school really do if you refuse to purchase a new pe kit with the logo on?

Ask the school to check pe kits for his name
