To superglue "spare change traps"?

Every so often, I get an HGV that's assigned to a single driver. They leave their night out gear (fridge, bedding, kettle etc.) in it. Some of them leave coins in full view, usually about a pound's worth.

On Monday there was another one. As I always do, I put the change somewhere safe and replaced it at the end of the day. On Tuesday, WW3 broke out. Nothing was missing, but by touching it I had violated his property, invaded his personal space, etc etc. I told him I wasn't sharing a cab with potential missiles and that he should take his shit out if he valued 67 pence that much. We got so loud we had to have a meeting, at which I was told not to touch stuff and he was told to empty his cab before every day off. He admitted the change was left out to test other drivers. The word "fuxache" was used.

You tidy up money, because it's a potential missile?? No money has ever launched itself in my car, which accelerates and brakes much more suddenly than a HGV.
If it's similar to hot desking in an office, the cab should be cleared after each job.

It's the rollovers and the suspension travel, especially the latter. A three inch bump can produce a vertical bounce of a foot. Loose objects take off, and if you're turning left anything to your right is going to come straight at your eyes. This is why daily check sheets include "no loose objects in cab", which the driver in question was reminded of.

Why can't the other driver leave his spare change in the ashtray (assuming such things exist in HGV cabs these days)?

And what Melonaire said. I doubt Disgrace is imagining he's going to be knocked out by a 10p piece - but it's distracting if things are flying around the dashboard.

Other driver WBU. You should be able to get into clean, tidy cab. And people do get injured by stuff in the vehicle - I read it somewhere and now I go round feeling guilty that my car is a mobile rubbish tip.

Other driver was being unreasonable. He should leave the cab clear when he's finished with it. Otherwise, you/supervisor should be allocated a place to put all of the stuff left there so that you have the correct working environment.

You did nothing wrong. Whoever supervised the meeting is a muppet for suggesting you were wrong to move things that should not have been in your workspace (according to the checklist you mention).

It's fine to tidy someone's stuff if they've left it out, whether it's a Cab or Desk.

HeWBU, not you. Makes sense for you to put stuff away if it's got danger potential, and how in fuck can you be "violating his personal space" if you have to drive the HGV after he has? It's not "his personal space", it's a company HGV cab!
I can't even comment on the "testing the other drivers" comment - I doubt very much that it's his place to do that, and his reaction is ridiculous.

I took the potential missile to be the kettle etc. I wouldn't want to be smacked round the back of the head with a kettle if I had to brake sharply.

And I hate loose coins and other shit in vehicles. They roll around when you turn corners and the noise drive me insane. (I have learnt on hear that probably means I have misophonia).

OP, your colleague is BU in not following a perfectly sensible company policy by leaving personal possessions in a vehicle that is used by more than one driver. If there is a next time, you would be within your rights to bag it all up, dump it in a bin when you take your break and deny all knowledge of ever seeing it because, 'it is company policy not to leave personal possessions in vehicles' .

I am loving "we got so loud we had to have a meeting" so much.

YANBU - why should you need to work in a workspace (truck) littered with other people's crap?
