To be angry with my iPhone?

Sometimes the battery just shuts down for no reason. At like 28% and 36% etc. iPhone 6.

Really annoys me. First world problem I know but why after all these years of iPhones can't they make a decent battery?

DH has a 5S that does the same. He's gone back to a 4S because it's more reliable and the battery lasts longer. It's rubbish, isn't it?

LordBrightside · 07/01/2016 21:37

It's certainly very annoying. Apple have me over a barrel to be fair. Wouldn't even contemplate another phone. Or laptop.

have you closed apps off that you aren't using also and also shut of your data mobile when not in use? it eats the battery as its constantly surfing, even apts you do not use, are also closing down all your apts daily?

If so, go bac to apple and demand the do a battery test.

LordBrightside · 07/01/2016 21:47

Oh yes, all apps are regularly shut down.

Some days it will still work at 1%. Some days, it just shuts down at 28%. Weird.

Take it to the Apple Store. I took my 5 in when the battery was not staying charged. They ran some tests on it and could tell it was not working. They popped it out in front of my very eyes and put a new one in. And it was free.

I've moved over to Samsung. So much storage, an easier keyboard and not paying silly amounts because it's an iPhone!!

JohnLuther · 07/01/2016 22:23

Take it to your local Apple store, it should not be shutting off like that.

Griphook · 07/01/2016 22:24

Take to it Apple, they did a test on mine, said it would take to long to fix and gave me a new one. It has 3 weeks left on the warranty.
You can book an appointment online or just turn and hope they have some spaces

Coldlightofday · 07/01/2016 22:29

They can tell if you're cross with them. Be nice, take it out to some fun places, maybe talk loudly in its hearing about how great the iPhone is

That should sort it.

I've tried saying sweet nurturing things in Siri.

It's a battery fault. They'll fix it. They might try to charge you, but just wave this page at them and say you consider that a battery that does this so soon is not 'fit for purpose' nor 'of satisfactory quality'. They'll fix it for free without a murmur, assuming their software detects a fault. I'm pretty sure it will given your description.

MillionToOneChances · 07/01/2016 22:35

Oh yes, and often they just give you a new one. Nice.

jm90914 · 07/01/2016 22:38

You know, it's a myth that closing all apps saves your battery - it could actually drain it more:

But honestly, if you have an iPhone 6 and it literally turns off when it's at 28% then it sounds like there's a hardware fault. Book an appointment at an Apple Store and get them to take a look (batteries do fail sometimes), or give them a call.

ceeveebee · 07/01/2016 22:41

Mine does this too. It sticks on 23% for ages then shuts down. Did it today at the train station when I needed to get at an email with a ticket collection reference number - was desperately scrabbling around on the floor getting my laptop out to find it instead! I never realised it was a fault, I'll go to the Apple Store as well!
