To think this is a bit odd?

Currently sitting in the waiting room of a clinic in a major London hospital. The tv is tuned to TBN UK (Christian TV). I mean it's not like anyone can hear it, but aibu to think it's slightly inappropriate?

For the record, I am Christian...

Fairy stories to pass the time ?

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 06/01/2016 09:44

They're currently talking about how we use 'loving words'. I have gathered this from the visual aid cartoons...

I am a Christian and TBN makes me . It always seems more of a getrichquick scam than a religious broadcaster. YANBU.

knobblyknee · 06/01/2016 09:50

Its weird but I want to see the cartoons now. It cant be less inane than morning TV surely?

AuntieStella · 06/01/2016 09:51

If it's appropriate for broadcast in the first place, it's appropriate to be on.

Everyone knows you don't get to choose what's on when you're in a waiting room, and it's not unusual to find a programme you can't stand being shown.

I would however want nothing rated above PG in areas where children are likely to be present (OK, I know the ratings don't apply to telly, but I hope you get what I mean).

It's got to be better than Jeremy Kyle, surely? Grin

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 06/01/2016 09:54

They had Jeremy Kyle on when I was in the children's hospital waiting room yesterday. That was definitely worse. It just seems a bit weird. What's wrong with Escape to the Country?

I think it's inappropriate, but only because I couldn't be in the same room as a tv showing TBN and I'm a Christian. It makes my skin crawl.

OnlyLovers · 06/01/2016 10:11

I've never seen and don't know TBN but I'm not sure a religious broadcast of any stripe is a great choice for a public space with a captive audience.

BlueSmarties76 · 06/01/2016 10:28

Jeremy Kyle in a kids hosp waiting room is not appropriate viewing for the children there! I think anything shown in an institution with kids around needs to be a U rating or equivalent.

catfordbetty · 06/01/2016 10:31

Perhaps another patient selected that channel. Choose another?

MushroomMama · 06/01/2016 10:32

The hospital I seemingly spend my life at always has BBC news channel on or promotional stuff about the new hospital they are building.

not sure what tbn is but personally don't think it has a place in hospital waiting rooms

imnotalpharius · 06/01/2016 10:39

The only time I've watched TBN is when they rerun coverage of live events like Big Church day out/Soul survivor etc. The rest no way.
