To want to throw water over next doors fireworks?

Title says it all really.

Seems to be brand new neighbours, as I don't recognise them are setting off fireworks at 4 in the afternoon with no warning what so ever. I have anxiety which was already sky high after a few loud noises during the night and now it's turned into the urge to just chuck water over their garden may or may not be free from cat pee/poo

Other option is a PA note through the letterbox kindly asking them to refrain from setting off fireworks on days where it isn't right to set of fireworks.

I'm fully expecting to be told YABU over this

I hate fireworks, but I don't think prior warning is required. I hope you're seeking help for your anxiety.

YANBU.
There are far too many excuses to set off fireworks these days. Round here it seems no wedding or birthday party is complete without fireworks - often very late at night.
They have the right idea in Ireland - fireworks only available to licensed users.

I used to live in an area where idiots would set fire works off at anytime of the day or night (even in daylight) between september and february. The dogs go mental, kids can't sleep. ARGHHHH! I don't see why these are even sold to the public.

NickNacks I meant like new years eve or bonfire night (when I don't mind them too much as I've managed to remember it's NYE/Bonfire night, thus anxiety isn't already sky high), it's the week or two before the event that I prefer to have the quiet nights where I'm not constantly jumping every time one goes off.

goodnight I'm on antidepressants which work 99% of the time, that 1% is usually like today.

I also have to admit, it's the first day of my period, so I'm a lot more highly strung than normal!

I agree with them not being sold to the public at all - but as long as they are YABVU. There is no official list of days when you can let off fireworks. Nor should there be.

Sorry but you don't get to tell people when they can and cant let off fireworks during the day.

Assuming you're not paying their rent that is.

There's Diwali,Chinese new year.... Other cultures traditions too! It's just a bit of noise, yabu

Sorry, I love fireworks and think it is perfectly fine to let them off from your own garden so long as it is dark and not too late. If they do it all the time then I would say something, the same as if they played loud music all the time. But if it's just a celebration/fun for the kids thing, then it's up to them. But I would always speak to neighbours face to face, notes can be misinterpreted. They might not even realise it is a problem.

A note is a really bad idea - they won't take you seriously if you do have genuine complaints in future e.g. setting off fireworks past 10pm etc.

Really? I can understand your anxiety made you worry when you heard the first lot of noises, but now you know what it is so why are you anxious about?

We light fireworks at about 5pm on a certain winters evening to commemorate our daughters death. never occurred to me to ask anybody, sorry.

I hate fireworks. If it was up to me they wouldn't be sold to the general public.
It isn't up to me. There is no law against it. People don't have to notify their neighbours when they intend to let off fireworks.
This is more about your anxiety than the fireworks. Are you seeking help for that?

Sorry but yes yabu, it's a bit of noise for a while, it's at 4pm not 4am, and it's not their fault or their problem you have anxiety issues, it's your problem (by the way I have anxiety issues too, but in no way do I expect anyone else to adapt what they want to do for my benefit). Chuck the tv or radio on a bit louder than normal, or go out if it's that much of a problem.

If I as really going to do anything about the fireworks, I'd have done it by now to be honest, and even then it would have to be for longer than the half hour these were. It was a bit of a shock to suddenly have a firework set off right next to the house, I'm used to them being a couple of streets away if anything!

I've always had neighbours that have come round to tell us if they're setting of fireworks due to our cat (and my parents dogs when I lived with them, and the DC's), so honestly thought that it was just common courtesy...

The thing with that is fireworks are loud, so surely they'd have to knock on every door in the street (and possibly the next), to warn everyone with a cat that they're going to be setting fireworks off for half an hour?

Maybe it was an impromptu thing anyway?

They were probably testing the ones they've bought for tomorrow night. A few of my neighbours have done this.

Kerantli - that is the problem now. There is no courtesy at all left. I always advise neighbours of anything I am doing that might affect them. Like the time I was getting carpets or the time I was getting a new bathroom and the water would be on and off all day. I had good neighbours at that house. At this house the neighbours are weird (or so I think). They don't care about anything as long as they can do what they want to do, It is bad manners
