She forgot the fucking chutney

Christmas is busy, I know, I know.

DH's sister is here. She has access to the most ambrosial aubergine chutney, homemade, by her MiL. Her MIL won't share the recipe but deigns to share some jars at Christmas. My jar is on SIL's kitchen table 350 miles away.

I can send her back to get it, can't I?

Of course!
You can't let her ruin Christmas for everybody Shock

MsMargaretCarter · 24/12/2015 14:47

Aargh. I can feel your disappointment from here.

PreAdvent13610 · 24/12/2015 14:47

Any chance of packing all the people and Christmas stuff into a car or two and transferring to your sisters house for Christmas?

LTB

Leave the bitch!)

readyforno2 · 24/12/2015 14:52

She's done this on purpose. No doubt

InanimateCarbonRod · 24/12/2015 14:54

Christmas is ruined. Stay in bed. My condolences.Grin

TheVermiciousKnid · 24/12/2015 14:55

Face it, she has already eaten it. :(

OddSocksHighHeels · 24/12/2015 15:08

Aubergine is horrible. You're better off without it.

Ohtobeskiing · 24/12/2015 15:11

She wants it all for herself. She didn't forget it, she 'forgot' it. Xmas Grin

SevenOfNineTrue · 24/12/2015 15:16

I wouldn't be sad, I hate chutney Smile Seriously though, if you love a food and are denied it when you were expecting it, I'd be annoyed.

fidel1ne · 24/12/2015 15:20

Aubergine chutney? 'Ambrosial'? This is a bit of a tall tale, I think Hmm

scribblegirl · 24/12/2015 15:21

I'm with the posters above. She's had her chutney and eaten it Wink

Chippednailvarnish · 24/12/2015 15:24

How far away is the mil?
Could you kidnap her, take her to a supermarket and then force her to make a new batch?

RomComPhooey · 24/12/2015 15:26

I'm more inclined to think the MIL IBU in not sharing her recipe so more of the world can benefit. You can hardly blame your SIL for hoarding when its so tightly rationed.

Eigg · 24/12/2015 15:47

Saves you a thank you note...

Hatethis22 · 24/12/2015 15:47

I think you need to take a deep breath. Then work out how to kidnap the MIL and extract the recipe from her. Then post it on here.

TheRattleBag · 24/12/2015 15:53

I agree with RomComPhooey. I don't understand why people are so secretive about recipes! If I make something that someone appreciates enough to ask for the recipe, I gladly share it. Just seems mean spirited not to.

WitchWay · 24/12/2015 16:09

Oh no - disaster Sad

I fucking love chutney, much nicer than whole pickled things like onions Grin

MsButteryMash · 24/12/2015 16:14

I'd have to try making some and see if I could recreate it.

I'd be upset too, I love nice chutney at Christmas - with the cold turkey and ham, in a brown bread sandwich mmmmm

SecretBondGirl · 24/12/2015 16:28

Get her to email her mum for the recipe as her dds life is at stake then get her to find an open shop to buy the necessary ingredients she'll be up until 2 am in the morning making it but it'll be worth it to save Xmas Xmas Wink
