My boss - who is a bit of a female mix between David Brent & Richard France from Trollied - is hashtag crazy. Our department looks after the company Twitter feed and she'll put in emails things like #GoForIt or #YayTeam (without actually linking to anything). I think she went on a social media course and has gone a bit loopy with it.

She handed out her Christmas cards today. Mine said "Thanks for working hard this year #ImPartOfAFabTeam"

AIBU to want to roll the card up, slap her silly with it while I explain that hashtags are only useful when written on the actual fucking Internet?

Yes they're really for links BUT they have become almost a sort of punctuation now. The younger people use them in the same way as we'd use " "

A way of marking something out as important or "fun" or an in joke. So I say

Your boss is obviously giving you a hint to use more hashtags, so maybe you should be looking for inspiration.
