To be worried about ds eye?

A few weeks ago my friend posted a picture she took of my two dc and her Dc on Facebook. She had a message from someone telling her to tell me to get my ds eyes checked, as one eye was yellow/gold and the other red.

I panicked and took him to the walk in clinic, they looked at me like I was stupid, and said his eye was fine. He had an eye test a month before the photo was taken.

It's happened again. A few times, in photos the same eye is yellow/gold. And the other red.

What do I do :(

No offence, but have you tried turning the flash off?

Obv, it doesn't show up when the flash isn't on. But I read that it can be a sign oamething is wrong.

If he's seen an optician in the last month then there really isn't much chance something awful has happened since then. But I understand why you are worried, there are too many stories about children being diagnosed with horrible illnesses after a flash picked it up. Maybe book him another opticians appt to discuss it. Take in some pics. Chances are it's nothing but hopefully they can explain it!

YANBU op. I would take him back to the optician along with a couple of photos and say you are concerned.

If it was a one off then it's not something to be unduly worried about - if his head was tilted then the flash could have just caused a different effect in each eye because of a different angle. But if it's a few different photos then I would want it investigated. Technically, two healthy eyeballs should have the same structure and react to a flash in the same way.

The yellow could suggest Coats' in some photos but it's unlikely if your DS' eyes have been checked. Was your son looking directly into the camera? If he was even slightly off then the angle of his eye could have caused it. There's no sense in panicking, modern cameras often have red eye reduction which can skew things anyway. Take the photos next time he sees a GP or opthamologist and see what they say. My DN does have eye issues and it did show up on photos but it was consistent in nearly every photo where he directly looked at the camera. Get it checked out but it is likely not to be anything.

Same thing happened to 2 of my kids. Luckily, one was under a specialist for a different condition, she checked both of them and they were fine.

She explained it's to do with angles and the flash (particularly with newer cameras).

It can be an indication of an issue so if you are still not reassured, go back to the opticians or find another one if they don't treat you seriously, our opticians are absolutely brilliant.

You have every right to get it investigated.

I reckon all will be fine but it's always worth pushing, until you are reassured.
