Ideas for gifts for dds dad, my ex

Ex and I do not get along. At all.

Dd is 6 and I think its only right she gets him pressies for birthdays and Christmas.

But what?

Craft isn't our strong point and we've painted mugs and done keyrings.

Looking for a simple but heartfelt idea or gift for under a tenner that has some thought in it. I asked dd what she wanted to get him but she just looked at me blankly as she's as clueless as me.

(The cheeky side of me wants to buy him the new Christmas Enya cd, but I'll behave)

Ideas please!

Do you have a particularly nice photo of dd taken this year that he hasn't seen? Get a print done and a frame for it, I sometimes do this for my dd's dad and he's always chuffed.

I have to say I stick to photos of dd for him (she's only 2.5) and I agree he should get something, but I refuse to do anything that can be seen as me doing it for him.
So a photo montage in a frame, photo cup, photo key ring and I have done some salt dough hand prints that she then painted.

Could your dd pick some socks or tshirt or something simple and from her?

I get my DDs to choose presents for their dad themselves.

DD1 got him hair clips once. He went bald in 1995.

Take her to a shop and let her choose him some cheap chocolates. That way she has chosen them and its not expensive.

Ooh I started a thread like this a few days ago over in christmas. In the end I went for a photo block thing (from the concession in tesco £3.50) and a little bauble with Ds face in (£2.50) i then got him a bottle of fizz from me - but me and my ex get on now so it was sort of an olive branch thing. I also gave Ds a quid and let him choose something for him himself from the pound shop - it was very cute as he chose play doh so they could play together!

Im in the same situation, got him a top from gap with 70% off and a stainless steel coffee mug from Amazon for £6, it plugs in to the lighter in his work van.

Its to keep his coffee warm, if he gets a small electric shock when he picks it up, bonus Xmas Grin

I gave my kids £10 each to choose something. Ds got him a neck massager, dd a clock . Their choice!

Dd bought her dad a 99p car airfreshner that says best dad from Amazon and he still has it now in his car. Only something little but she likes getting him something.

DD goes to Poundland/99p Shop and buys all our presents from there. It isn't anything much obviously but she has chosen them all herself and is proud of what she had got. Could you not do similar?

I vote for the pound land present. Your DD would be mighty proud of choosing it herself. You could also put a nice picture of her in a frame (which they sell in pound land Wink) as an addition.

I think it's best to let the kid choose. I pointed out to DH that it was silly him choosing gifts for his ex as he didn't know her any more. My DSS's have chosen some lovely things for their mum and some "interesting" things but the key is that they're from the people she loves (and not her ex).

DSS2 once told her with pressing urgency that he needed to get a particular toy dinosaur for his dad. He has never played with it as it belongs to DH. It lives on a shelf we look at every day. It's great and always makes me smile.

Same problem, sorry. Compounded by the fact that dd knows her dad struggles to get out of bed and has no interest in anything much.
