Abcde as a first name for a child.... apparently 329 people called their child

www.closeronline.co.uk/2015/03/couple-name-their-child-abcde-much-to-facebook-s-horror

www.vocativ.com/culture/society/people-named-abcde/

How on earth do you pronounce this?

OP posts:
LizKeen · 02/12/2015 15:51

It says in your second link its pronounced Absidee.

Bit odd. Bit like Nevaeh. Not something I would even consider.

ludog · 02/12/2015 15:53

I prefer Hijklmnop myself, but each to their own and all that.

DonkeyOaty · 02/12/2015 15:59

YZ would be okay. Prn Why-Zee.

MyNameIsNotAbcde · 02/12/2015 15:59

hahah - i'm a dopey soul! I missed that!

i don't mind the way that sounds to be honest, Absidie..

StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/12/2015 16:00

But would that pronounced be 'haitch' or 'aitch' ludog Grin

ludog · 02/12/2015 16:03

Neither...the h is silent. It's actually pronounced Graham

YakTriangle · 02/12/2015 16:07

Raymond Luxury-Yacht

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 02/12/2015 16:09

Vwxyz sounds more feminine.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 02/12/2015 16:14

How to pronounce Hijklmnop
Well "van hijk" is surname pron hidge-kuh like fridge just without the fr and with a kuh on the end,
And the end would be nop (rhymes with mop and hop)

So hidge-Kuh-elem-nop

PaulAnkaTheDog · 02/12/2015 16:16

I prefer lmno (Elle-emeno).

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/12/2015 16:17

Surely hijklmnop is pronounced water-p?

StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/12/2015 16:17

Neither...the h is silent. It's actually pronounced Graham

Grin Makes perfect sense to me!

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 02/12/2015 16:24

Grin fatty!

sjane03 · 02/12/2015 16:38

I met a abcde recently she was a adult living in the UK and I only realised when I had to write her name down.

mutantninja · 02/12/2015 16:40

Qwertyuiop is pretty.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 02/12/2015 16:52

Seriously? Abcde?

A FB friend has recently announced her unborn baby will be called Princess Nevaeh. I thought that was bad enough - but Abcde wins Silly Names Top Trumps hands down.

IoraRua · 02/12/2015 16:54

I read a book once with a character called lmnop. Ellemenohpee. I don't think it's great for a real person though...

BicycleGasoline · 02/12/2015 16:57

Ella Minnow Pea! That's the lmnop book. I love it!
Wouldn't name a child lmnop though!

MyNameIsNotAbcde · 02/12/2015 16:57
