To give the dc coco pops for lunch?

Dc generally have a bowl of coco pops for breakfast on a weekend day as a treat. Except that yesterday there was no milk here (bloody dh), dh was in work, we were all in PJs and didn't want to go out etc.

So the dc had scrambled egg, beans and toast for breakfast.

Ds2 then asked if they could have coco pops for lunch instead, I instantly said no and he asked why. And when I thought about it, I thought why not? Had there been milk here in the morning I would have done it the other way around (coco pops for breakfast, scrambled egg for lunch) without query.

So, they had a big bowl of coco pops each at 1pm for lunch.

An interfering bat of a relative (won't say which one, you may be able to guess ) popped in during coco-pop time and was fairly disgusted at my poor parenting skills in 'not feeding two growing dc properly' at lunch time - regardless of the breakfast they'd had.

WIBU?

DS tends to only really want one big meal a day and just picks for the rest of the time, so if he's had a big lunch then dinner is often cereal.

Of course YANBU. I'd love cocopops for lunch!
As long as your DCs are having 3 meals a day it really doesn't matter what order they go in, despite what interfering relatives may think.
A staple Sunday evening in my house is a bowl of cereal after having a large roast for lunch.

Ha both of mine have hot school dinners & when its a busy night & we have Cubs & Beavers then they get a sandwich for their evening meal. Exactly the same food that they would have eaten per day had they had a packed lunch yet my relative thinks that they should have a hot evening meal every day regardless. She also thinks I'm a lost cause however as I don't like roast dinners & only ever cook one at Christmas bowing to convention my mum & dad had a Mediterranean platter & salad every Christmas lunch & I can count on one hand the amount of times my mum cooked a roast. They are nasty!

They ask for sandwiches too, they prefer them :)

Anyone who commented on how I fed my child would be wearing the coco pops

Cornflakes or Weetabix yes - but that would be a waste of perfectly good coco pops!

Go for it, maybe sprinkle a bit of spirulina on top to make it healthier.
