My sister has a habit of talking to her pets like they understand right from wrong: "no no tibbles, we dont eat from fluffy's food bowl! Oh naughty tibbles!" and "I said no scratching! No! Naughty!"

Ffs! I talk to my cat in a silly voice too all the time but why waste your breath admonishing them? I bet she's going to do it with future baby DC too. Just removed them from the bloody situation, reallllly winds me up

I admonish my cats but not in a baby voice. "For fucks sake stop guzzling your food!" "Get out of the way you slow twat!"
I love them honest Blush

No no wily we don't guzzle our wine! Naughty!

MagicalHamSandwich · 25/11/2015 23:13

Used to discuss my love life, my job, my family and basically everything of any importance at all with my cat until he died two years ago.

I really miss our conversations - he never dished out useless advice and was generally adamant that more food was the solution to every problem anyone has ever faced.

Leelu6 · 25/11/2015 23:13

Does she have enough people to talk to?

I drive my DH crazy sometimes by talking crap in a silly voice. The more it annoys him, the more I do it Confused

Maybe it's a need for reassurance.

fastdaytears · 25/11/2015 23:14

My mum wrote the cats' names on their bowls when they had to have different food.

I was only little but I remember thinking this was a little bit weird. She still is a bit.

YANBU

MoonlightandMusic · 25/11/2015 23:19

Definitely YANBU - got stopped in my tracks today by a small dog of the fluffy white persuasion who bounded over unexpectedly and the only options were stop or trip.

Only comment from his owner was "mind your head!" (to the dog) followed by an admonition to look where it was going - I was carrying an umbrella on the side he'd appeared from and she was obviously concerned the poor creature was going to brain himself on it. Now that is definitely taking anthropomorphising too far!

Tatty - any more of the bottle left? [hopeful] Grin
