To think this kid deserves to be squashed

Yesterday i witnessed a scene in the street. A boy about 14 was cycling in circles around a bus, making stupid faces at the driver, while his friends on the pavement were having a laugh.
Who would be to blame if this little shit would have gotten run over?

Well as the driver can see him, he's be at fault for intentionally driving over a teenager.
If he can't see him then it's a very sad accident.

He must have been riding incredibly fast to get all the way around a full sized bus before the driver drove away while he was on his way towards the back... for managing to call a child a little shit who deserves death for the crime of behaving a bit of an idiot within a 3 sentence opening post - death for behaving like an idiot, what sentence would you dole out if he'd dropped litter?

I have to admit your thread title made me laugh but I thought it would be about getting squashed on a tube seat or something! Of course YABU for thinking a child should be run over by a bus.

YANBU to call him a little shit though, IMO. I'd probably have laughed if he fell off the bike... but not if he fell into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Oh my goodness, what an idiot! It's a wonder the next generation survives at all the way some of them behave (remembering my own youth as well as my children's!). I once nearly squashed a kid on a skateboard who decided to hitch a ride on my back bumper as I was about to manoeuvre out from a row of parked cars. If I hadn't taken an extra look behind and seen his head bobbing up briefly before I reversed he'd have been a kid sandwich.

Before a lot of people jump on and say you're callous and evil and how would you feel if etc etc, I'm sure you didn't want the little shit to be run over and would have been one of the first to help if he had indeed got hurt. But I don't blame you at all for judging the behaviour.

Teenagers are often idiots ... It's in the job description ... deserving to be liquefied beneath the 182 seems a bit extreme, though ( And it would make everyone late ... Specially him )

Obviously his mum never sung him the "Wheels On The Bus Go Squish, Squish, Squish" version when he was little.

I have a bit of a confession - years ago on the road where I lived there used to be a bunch of teens that would follow cars so closely on their bikes that they may as well have been attached to the bumper. Usual stuff, pulling faces and general arsery. Most people drove slowly because they obviously didn't want to run them over...I had enough one day and slammed the brakes on. They never did it again

No, i don't wish a gruesome death to a child. But traffic is full of nutters anyway, without stupid children behaving like monkeys. I felt very sorry for the driver (i was a passenger on that bus).

Well it would be a classic example of natural selection. We have loads of young dickheads who think they're immortal weaving in and out of traffic round here and taunting drivers. I feel sorry for the driver who will eventually squash them and for the parents.

In the eyes of the law, it would be driver's fault.

In the eyes of sensible people who don't put up with nonsense, it would be his fault. Amazingly I managed to get through my entire childhood without taunting drivers of public or private transportation.

Little asshole (yeah, I said it) will be crying for his mummy soon enough if he got knocked over. Not so tough then.

Kids are stupid and think they're invincible. I remember playing out with my friends and trying to grab onto the back of passing cars (on a slow road in a housing estate not a main road) to go faster on our roller blades. We never actually managed it, just as well I think I would have shit bricks if I had.

I remember being about 6, and we had a sort of a dare thing on our street -- try to run across just in front of a passing car. That was a rare occasion when my dad took out his belt...
I sort of assume that a teenager should know better.

I loathe this MN habit of referring to children/adolescents who are behaving as children/adolescents sometimes do as 'little shits'. It's a hideous phrase which makes its users sound rather ugly-spirited.

The child was obviously behaving obnoxiously and dangerously. If I were the bus driver, I'd have stopped, if safe to do so, and given him a robust and public telling off.

I had a boy stand in the middle of the road to stop my car driving up. He'd, unknown to me, been picking on my son. I reported it to the school and the school Secretary said

I dunno. I had my 14yo parents evening last night and little shit did come to mind luckily I passed a very naice pub on the way home....which was full of other parents also moaning about their unruly teenagers :o

Maybe sometimes the term is used because other words fail you. What special brand of feckwit (of any age) acts like that? It is not normal adolescent behaviour at all, it is shitty adolescent behaviour.

Had the bus driver tried the 'robust telling off' we all know what would have happened: sudden escalation by feckwit and his chortling friends.

It isn't an MN habit, it is more widespread than that. Sometimes an stupid action attracts an unpleasant label and I think op was quite restrained with her bemused thread title and 'little shit' appellation!

I don't think he deserves to be (obviously ) but I do think he should be told off by a police officer and told how silly and immature he is - he might not feel so cool when he is getting a bollocking in front of his mates and might rethink his behaviour (probably very naive of me and he wouldn't care a bit).

Young lads show off in front of their friends they do stuff they would never do in alone - my DS and his friends did the daftest silliest things when egging each other on (nothing illegal or really dangerous, but stupid stuff) individually or in small numbers you couldn't meet a more charming, considerate bunch of boys.

I can't help think that many people who object to calling teenagers little shits don't have teenagers.

Mine are pretty good but can still be little shits on occasion.

The kids in my street like to play chicken with oncoming cars. Its a Victorian terraced so its narrow, lots of parked cars and two way traffic. These little darlings are aged anywhere from around 8ish upwards.

They've finally learnt that I won't stop and won't appear to slow down either (not that I'm moving fast anyway).

OP - if he had been squished it would have been a great nomination for the Darwin's Awards.

My Dad ran over a child playing chicken once. He was lucky there was a witness who said there was no way he could stop in time, the police were treating him as if he was speeding dangerously.

The child was ok but it was very upsetting for all concerned.

I think there can definitely be a pack mentality amongst some groups of teenage boys. My own included.
He towers over me, his teachers etc too. He is a nice boy really, but he is very immature (and most probably confused/scared) under that rather more man like body.
