to be grumpy with DH after burning myself?

DH has a habit of always doing something next to wherever I'm doing something. For example today I was pooing hot liquid from one pot to another and he started playing about in the cupboard next to me meaning I had no space and ended up burning myself. He then said oh sorry am I in the way! I said yes and continued what I was doing thinking he'd moved out of the very small kitchen until I discovered he had moved directly behind me meaning burn number 2! I left the kitchen telling him to sort out dinner and he is huffing because I'm grumpy! So wise MN AIBU?

Pouring obviously! Pooing a hot liquid would be most uncomfortable

YANBU. I hate feeling crowded, especially when doing anything important, so one of the things I looked for when we moved house was a bigger kitchen than the one we used to have.

We now have a U shaped kitchen that has 2 perfectly good empty work surfaces/chopping boards, plus a bit of space in the corner between the kettle/hob and sink.

You can guarantee that no matter what I am doing, DH will be faffing at the work surface that will cause me most disruption- so if I am cooking at the hob he will be washing up meaning I can't comfortably get to the kettle. If I want something from the cupboard he'll be buttering bread at the work surface in front of it. And if I need utensils he'll be at the work surface over there making drinks or something.

I honestly don't know how he does it! (And I don't like to complain too much because at least he's doing something helpful, if I complain then I guess he'll disappear into the other room. As I would do if it were reversed!)

I hate anyone getting in my way! My Mum is the only person I can cook with comfortably, we move in a synchronised kind of way. Dh and Dd bug me, they hover and get in the way all the time.
