Serving a stew that I accidentally squirted washing up liquid into

It was only one spiral squirt, of ecover and I've fished most of it out, then stirred.

I think it tastes a bit soapy, but in paranoid and no one else has tasted it with a quick spoonful, although I haven't told them.

Would you serve it? Seems a shame to waste.

Totally depends on taste. If you can't taste it then it would be fine.

Who last did the washing up? If it wasn't you, you can accuse them of failing to rinse the dishes properly.

The volume of stew matters here. If it's a huge vat and each person would only end up consuming a teeny tiny drip then it's probably not much worse than a badly rinsed bowl being eaten from.

If it's a small pot... well probably best not!

I didn't mention it and no one seemed to notice! Although washing up liquid shouldn't really be consumed so unless I was sure i'd managed to get most of it out, i'd probably chuck it.

I need to ask, what were you doing to squirt washing up liquid in? I'm just trying to imagine what scenario this would happen.

My household standards are low, believe me, but I wouldn't do this. Isn't washing up liquid one of those things where you're supposed to go to hospital if you consume it? Not sure I would confidently know it was too small amount for that. Is it not better just to order a pizza for once?

Just tell them there's coriander in it, if they ask. That makes everything taste soapy.

Tendon - My DM used to wash plates and dishes with washing up liquid, then put them on the drying rack without rinsing. God knows how much washing up liquid we ingested over the years, but all of us made it through! I think you'd have to take in a fair amount for it to do obvious damage.

Ecover has quite a low toxicity - but if you ingest it, you are supposed to line your stomach with food and water and report to hospital if you feel unwell, so it's not completely safe.

I'd get a taster to test it anyway, if it tastes like soap it's a lost cause.

Right I'm going to serve it, will double up the cous cous and half the stew. Then will be leftovers tomorrow if we make it, it can't of been much that got in there. No worse then badly rinced plates.
