WIBU to just not answer the door?!

My parents were due at 4 to spend time with DD and then have supper. They still haven't arrived. I shouldn't be surprised as they have form.
WIBU to just not let them in now, as we're on bedtime wind-down, DD hasn't seen them for ages and is going to get really razzed up when they arrive!

YANBU, that would really piss me off.

Message them and put it off to another night?

Why don't you phone them and rearrange?

Could you not contact them and inform them that since time is getting on you would prefer it if they came another day instead?

As much as id love to say yanbu - i do think it would be slightly unreasonable. But they are being very unreasonable with their time, unless there is a genuine reason for their lateness.

Can you contact them in any way?

They'll disturbed her by knocking.

Text them and say the invite is cancelled as they didn't show.

YANBU. I would go out though as you will probably have DD to contend with if you don't answer the door.

It would be rude, but not unreasonable. I'd just get in touch and say another time.

Yes, pre-empt them by calling now.

Do they live far away, does it take them long to travel. Next time you issue an invitation just say, please don't be late dc has to be in bed by so and so, and from whatever time it is, we are calming down ready for bed.

Did they turn up?

I'd be too worried about their safety to be thinking of revenge tactics like that
