To think that DP should have checked with me before booking the time off?

DP is working a lot of overtime over Christmas so we can go on holiday in the new year, it will be our first holiday together as we were both working a lot over the summer.

However, he has taken upon himself to have already booked time off in January.

I am at uni and I have a presentation assignment that is due within this time period.

He is being all huffy with me now, I've said that I can take the second week but not the first. Aibu to think he should have checked that those dates were ok before just booking it off work? I've also said he could change his holiday dates as there is more than enough time to do so but he seems reluctant to do this?

As you are actually going away, yes your DP has been a bit short sighted and needs to change his dates.

Yanbu, if you are going with him then he needed to have checked if you actually will be able to take the leave.

WhereYouLeftIt · 18/11/2015 17:08

What on earth has he given as his reason why he didn't check dates with you first Confused?
(And anyone who goes in a huff is, by default, unreasonable.)

I think he told me that he wanted to go away in January but it was sort of mentioned in passing, nothing concrete, no specific dates mentioned. I think he feels that that was him telling me, and therefore I should have known to tell him in advance if I shouldn't do a particular date.

Except that a) I didn't have my assignment date when he mentioned it
B), January is a whole month, did he just except me to keep the whole thing free just in case?

He is being very silly.

mintoil · 18/11/2015 17:40

Does he have form for being such a dick?

Timeforanamechangey · 18/11/2015 18:36

Yes, sometimes :D

Are you actually happy to take two weeks off university in January? Isn't that a huge amount of work for you to catch up on? Surely he needed to book off early in the month?

BaronessSamedi · 18/11/2015 18:55

how long are you together?
are you prepared to put up with such behaviour in the long-term?

This man doesn't happen to view your occupation as student as less 'real' or less important than his work, by any chance, does he?

Does he often make decisions/take actions and expect your life to fit in around them?
