To give an IOU for a birthday present?

It is dd's friend's birthday party today. Dd found a present on Amazon and ordered it on the 4th with an estimated delivery date of 7th - 12th. It still has not arrived

WIBU to put a picture of the present in the card and explain? Or should I do a last minute dash to town to try and find what may be a mediocre gift rather than what my Dd considered a perfect gift for her friend.

Girls are 10 btw.

I would put a silly poem in the card something like:

We bought you X and it's on it's way
But Amazon have spoiled the day
So please be patient and try to wait
Until your gift comes through our gate

Then put in some silly cheap token something to open now like a £3 bath set or something so she has a gift for now.
