To still bloody love The Beatles?

It seems to be fashionable of late to slag them off, but am currently watching The nation's favourite Beatles' No 1s and I'm just thinking that I they were a brilliant band that changed the course of music in the UK and the USA and the songs still sound fresh and alive today, decades later.

Anyone else..?

If YABU then I ABU too. Bloody love the Beatles, depending on what mood I'm in depends on which "era" of them I love.

sarah00001 · 11/11/2015 20:54

The Beatles are brilliant, don't be ashamed of loving them!

Erimemushinteperem · 11/11/2015 20:55

I don't like them at all but of course yanbu. You like what you like.

Tinklewinkle · 11/11/2015 20:58

I'm watching it too

They did go a bit weird for me for a bit, but on the whole I like them

However, I absolutely, cannot stand Paul McCartney and sodding Hey Jude

Alchemist · 11/11/2015 20:58

YANBU. I'm watching and reminding myself to play more Beatles.

I posted on a thread about Carry On films last night and tonight it's the Beatles... I really must get out more Grin.

I love the Beatles, and have done for about twenty years. I'm too young to have seen them when they were around, so I see the Bootleg Beatles every year, and they are nearly as good.

Destinysdaughter · 11/11/2015 21:00

Ooh good, glad it's not just me, and I'd love to see the Bootleg Beatles! Grin

Love them and always will - their songs are all classics. Though, Tinklewinkle, I'm with you on Hey Jude - have never liked it.

Tonight at dinner DD2 asked for a strawberry yoghurt. For some reason I started singing Strawberry Fields then the DC wanted to hear it, so I played the song on the stereo - then we all ended up dancing to Beatles songs! Their favourite was I am the Walrus. Good times.

NewLife4Me · 11/11/2015 21:03

Yes YABVU Grin

They did employ some good songwriters though.
The lyricists were particularly good, so I believe.

TheHiphopopotamus · 11/11/2015 22:01

Yanbu

I've loved them since the 80s when they weren't in fashion then either. My mum and especially my dad were huge fans, and we played a Beatles song at his funeral.

Paul McCartney probably is a bit of a knob but I don't care because he gave the world some of its greatest music.

Alchemist · 11/11/2015 22:09

Ringo did the peace sign but Paul held his fingers down. Fingers aloft no more Sad. Perhaps his PR were holding him down suggested he didn't do it.

All of them created enduring and endearing music. Love them.

DoreenLethal · 11/11/2015 22:12

I've loved them since I was a toddler - around 45 years. My first memory is being on my dad's shoulders dancing round the room to Yellow Submarine.

Still got it. I am going to crack open my vinyl at the weekend after watching tonight.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 11/11/2015 22:15

Yanbu. Just been listening to Revolver in the car this week, thought my 16mo needed some exposure. I had a Beatles tribute band at my wedding Smile

Preminstreltension · 11/11/2015 22:24

I heard "I will" on Desert Island Discs the other day and it stopped me in my tracks. That's what I think of as amazing music - music you've known for years that can still surprise and grip you.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 11/11/2015 22:29

I love them best band ever

No other band is as influential and no other band created such a change in music in such a short space of time. A Day In The Life is perfection

Horsemad · 12/11/2015 00:04

Amazing band.

AshleyWilkes · 12/11/2015 00:05

Love them. Bootlegs are awesome too Smile
