to give up trying to cancel this appointment?

I am trying to cancel a medical appointment I can't make on Wednesday. I've been on hold for 21 minutes so far listening to hold music and being asked to continue to hold as someone will be with me shortly.

I know it WBU to give up and just no show, but fuck me it's unreasonable that I am wasting so much time on hold. There's no email or other way to contact them that I can find.

Is it any wonder people just don't show if cancelling/rescheduling appointments is so time consuming.

YANBU but there could be consequences. My GP surgery will remove you from their list if they register 3 no shows for you.

Can you send them an email or pop in on the way home?

Or try later in the day when the usual Monday morning flood of weekend patients are off the phone. I find with our phoning about 3:30 a good time for things not requiring an appointment as they are all gone by then so get through straight away.

I'm going to try later - I can't pop in as it's a clinic thing rather than the GP and it's not convenient to go to, but blimey, an email address or ability to leave a message would help the old blood pressure!

If it's a clinic at a hospital you could try leaving a message with the main reception? I've done that a few times after the number on the letter just rang and rang.

Is it an nhs one? Can you cancel it on choose-and-book, or whatever the new name is?

the one I phoned and cancelled never got cancelled. They sent a reminder while I was waiting in the airport for a flight booked 6 months previous.

Write a letter. 1st class stamp. Post today. Should get there by Wednesday.
