I'm just pissed off and taken aback at how non existent their customer service is!!

Been a customer for years and last week after multiple emails 'inviting' me to upgrade my phone I finally got round to contacting them.

Chose, phone and was offered a 'choice' of dates for delivery, I chose yesterday as I knew I would be able to book it off work.

So waited in no text or email to confirm delivery slot or rough time as you normally get. So at about 1pm I went into live chat, connected with a staff member obviously non UK based, who seemed to take ages to understand that I wanted to confirm I was going to receive my phone as arranged. Eventually got told 'please don't worry your phone is on its way, the courier will text you with a delivery time'.

At half four still heard nothing, so went in live chat again ( feeling a it annoyed by now as could have taken kids out in last day of half term, or even just done something vaguely useful with the day).

It too FOURTY EIGHT minutes of 'live chat' to eventually be advised my phone WAS NOT coming, as the phone I ordered was in high demand. Ok fine maybe they have supply issues hut no one even text to update me that my phone was not coming and worse still in my eyes up until I asked for the phone number of the courier the staff member was still giving me reassurances I would be text once it was known what time It would be coming, this was deliberately misleading as they must have been able to see full well it wasn't coming as they had told me.

Totally crappy customer service forcing their customers to wait I in in all day, take a days leave from work etc!!!!

My husband cancelled his Vodafone phone (minimum term had expired on the contract) in March. They still send a bloody bill each month, we cancelled the dd after two months of them continuing to take it. We've had a conversation with them each month since then where they tell us they've fixed the problem! Halloween AngryHalloween AngryHalloween Angry

GuzzleBloodTastyDrink · 31/10/2015 21:43

I left them years ago due to shitty customer services.

PuggieMum · 31/10/2015 21:54

Well I hope they are prepared to pay me for my wasted day as I will be requesting they do!!

Vodafone are absolutely awful, I've had so many problems with them. It started with the delay in delivery, then they sent me the wrong phone and then wouldn't apply the discount they agreed until I managed to speak to the silly women who forgot to apply it.

I've had problems with the actual phone and had to send it away twice for it to be fixed. With all these problems I have never been rude to them, but they are always rude and talk to me like I stupid. Customer services in the shop and on the phone are both as bad.

As you can probably tell I will not be renewing my contract with them, if you can cancel I would.

They carried out a software update on my sure signal booster box and promptly stopped it working. They then told me it was my problem to fix it. How the hell would I be able to fix or carry out software repairs on their equipment? They were adamant it was up to me to rectify their fault and left me with no signal at home for seven months until I ran out of patience and paid my contract off. I wouldn't go back to them if they paid me. Utter useless bastards.

woodwaj · 31/10/2015 22:23

I left them years ago. I was going elsewhere they offered me a good deal I accepted and they just didn't apply it then played dumb about the whole thing. Would never use again! I hope you get your phone soon!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/10/2015 22:26

Leave them. Go to Giffgaff. Most customer service is provided by users and is mostly excellent.

Justaboy · 03/11/2015 12:37

They used to once be a professionally run company but not anymore.
We tried to change a price plan a while ago and for a communications company they were just useless to communicate with their phone side referred us to their "webshite" and then back to call them.

However the nice man at "3" did what we wanted and we're now with them. A few coverage issues here and there, but otherwise fine:)

helenahandbag · 03/11/2015 12:40

Vodafone are absolutely terrible, I left them years ago because of their non-existent customer service.

InTheBox · 03/11/2015 12:43

I left them years ago when I had a bill for around £1500

SlaggyIsland · 03/11/2015 12:46

Vodafone are the shittiest of the shittiest of the shit. When my contract finishes I am never touching them again. A truly awful company. Hope they go bust.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/11/2015 12:58

That reminds me of another one. My dh had a problem with his Vodafone bill and queried it online. They told him to go to a store. Our nearest store is a twenty mile drive away. Naturally once we got there the shop staff told him they didn't have any access to customer accounts and he'd have to speak to someone online. He got a bit shirty at this point and said he wouldn't be leaving until they got someone on the phone for him. Which to their credit they did and I think he managed to get it resolved. Talk about useless.

DoctorTwo · 03/11/2015 13:11

A couple of months ago I tried to buy a PAYG 4G dongle at a Vodafone store, paying cash. They told me I could have one, but not for 90 days. I went to O2 instead.

sherbetpips · 03/11/2015 13:20

Do they use Yodel for delivery?
There is a disconnect between the call centres and the delivery service, basically this is what happens:
A contact list is sent to Yodel (or whichever courier) of all the customers who are getting new phones, the delivery timing is based on an SLA (i.e. the time it should ordinarily take for a new phone to be available). It is not based on when the phone is actually available.
Yodel then load that list onto there system and make the delivery bookings and you arrange a day to be in (via either the courier or the original customer contact centre).
When the phone doesnt arrive they dont delivery as it just dissapears off there list. You get left sitting there. There is little or no workaround for exceptions such as lack of availability.
We had 5 failed deliveries in a row leading up to Christmas until the company finally admitted that this was how it works. You could find your next delivery is booked in following your complaint but it will be handled in exactly the same way. Every time someone called to make a delivery booking we asked the simple question 'Have we got the stock'. And we always received the same reply - sorry we are the couriers we dont deal with the stock, so they were utterly unable to help. Very frustrating.

ShelaghTurner · 03/11/2015 14:08

I ordered the wrong iPhone back in the middle of September, rang them and they said it couldn't be cancelled, I had to send it back when it arrived. After seven weeks, countless live chats, a whole string of tweets, 12 emails and about 20 hours on the phone, the return pack finally arrived yesterday and it's been sent off today. And they're still charging me for it. I haven't even started the refund conversation Angry

GruntledOne · 03/11/2015 14:11

It's not a complete answer, but can you get them to deliver it to you at work so you don't have to book time off?

notfromstepford · 03/11/2015 14:14

After being a customer for many many years, I left them 2 years ago because of their shitty customer service. Went with Tesco and not had any problems.
