To think standing up to someone is a bit different to being intimidating [lighthearted]

I've put this as lighthearted because I'm Hmm rather than Angry and TBH it's kind of funny in a dark humour sort of way ...

After a stand up ding dong with a friend of a family member this morning, because they had starting tearing a strip off an elderly relative of mine for being a 'drain on society' I was accused of intimidating them, because and I quote 'No-one EVER stand up to ME and lives' ... after I was told this I'm afraid I had full on snorty can't breath hysterical giggles and this person stropped out screaming about 'some people being disrespectful' at the top of their voice ... So AIBU to not give a fuck what they think? lol

Anyone tearing a strip off an elderly person for being a drain on society needs putting in their place and it sounds like you did it well

You were not being intimidating, they were.

The elderly are not a drain on society, they paid their NI in the past to get their pensions now!

They sound like a classic "dish it out but can't take it" merchant. Falling about laughing was the best possible response to the pompous arrogant asshat.

Senpai · 26/10/2015 22:35

I have a bad habit of laughing when people yell at me or lecture me. It's just a nervous tick, but it frustrates the hell out of people who want me to "take them seriously" sometimes the laughing is genuine.

Birdsgottafly · 26/10/2015 23:34

They're verbally attacking an elderly person for basically still being alive, but your intimidating them?

They're delusional.

echt · 27/10/2015 07:24

What an arse: the stropper, not the OP.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 27/10/2015 07:29

He/she is a twat who deserved to look a fool.

I hope the elderly relative wasn't too upset and showed them the finger when twat flounced out of the room.

KKCupCakes · 27/10/2015 08:55

Classy I am glad to report that my Elderly Relative, we'll call him 'Bob' was totally unfazed by the stroppers behaviour, he just rolled his eyes and tutted. :)

"No-one EVER stands up to ME and lives ".....WTF! Such a ridiculous statement in its entirety. Taken to its logical conclusion, they'd have to commit murder and become an even bigger drain on society.
