Talk Talk hacked

I couldn't see a thread on this so....

This isn't an AIBU - more of a public service announcement.

Talk Talk has been hacked and they do not yet know what data has been taken, and what data was encrypted. Potentially hackers may have unencrypted names, addresses, tel no, DOB, credit card details, bank details.

If you have a Talk Talk account keep an eye on your other accounts.

Advice this morning was:
Do not respond to any emails from TalkTalk. Visit their website for action steps.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/10/2015 13:17

Also to change Talk Talk password ASAP (not possible at the moment) and if you use the same password on other sites then change the other sites to a different password.

Why didn't they inform customers earlier than now?
You can't change anything as their website is down!

Littleallovertheshop · 23/10/2015 20:23

Why are they not emailing or writing to or phoning customers? Seems bizarre for them to rely on the media when they have s responsiblity to their customers.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/10/2015 20:29

Well if they have been hacked the emails and phone calls could be from anyone trying to get information from you

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/10/2015 21:02

They are emailing, but going to the media was the quickest way to let people know. If you go to their website there is a copy of the email they are sending out and info on how to identify genuine callers.
