Failing my kids

I am stuck in expensive shit rental accomodation with no prospect of buying at age 42 and feel like I am failing my kids.
I wanted them to grow up with a garden etc and at the moment we are stuck in a 2 up 2 down crammed in and its too expensive to even move to a bigger house.
High house prices & a shit rental market are just so fucking crap!
I feel angry and trapped and a failure because I can't properly give my kids a secure home.

They do have a secure home with a parent who loves them. There is far too much emphasis in the UK on home ownership. I grew up in a Corporation house (we didn't say "Council" back then) and so did all my pals, some in high rise flats, others in terraces. The house we lived in was irrelevant, the home was important.

I agree, they are "at home" with you. Wherever that is.

It might be worth speaking to your local benefits office. They are helpful by me. They often have a list of houses they rent. They may be able to help with housing benefit up to a certain level.

They will only help up to the local area average, for the anoint of bedrooms you need. Small kids are expected to share, up to age 10, I think.

I grew up in a 2 up 2 down back to back, 3 children, my Dbro shared with my parents until he was 7 and Dsis and I had left home. No garden. It's not what other people have that matters, its the life you live with what you do have.
