AIBU to Think That Virgin Media...

Are absolutely shite Hmm

& ask if you other Virgin Media Customers, are really all having this same problem, as I have just been told by "tech support" that's a f'ing misnomer if ever there was one ??

Our email box has been bombarded with spam for weeks now, old mail that we have junk filtered, plus the usual spam shite for viagra, debt agencies etc etc - so as you can imagine after years with the same mail box - we gave hundreds coming in every day - this is a huge f'k up as it makes it impossible to see all out genuine emails, unless you have a few hours to spare and the patience of a f'ing Saint

DD is currently home schooled due to ill health & a hip injury - so I'm missing important mail from her school, plus important medical emails & more - it's driving me nuts & we have rang & complained so many times & it's the same bog standard "yes we know there's a problem, we are working on it, we estimate it will be fixed by xxx time tomorrow"

I just challenged that with the one guy who we've spoken to a few times who has seemed to be honest about the issue, reminding him we've been told that every time we ring & it's still not fixed - he tells me the server has been under attack & all customers are having the same issue, do it will be fixed soon.

Some days the phone lines as a result have gone down too - today, yet again have a message on loop that are working on the local internet, meaning that our broadband is likely to go down - again

Today, I will have to contact school, Hospitals etc etc & change our email address as they clearly can't be trusted to sort it out in a decent time frame - we've been lazy customers & the faff of changing email after this many years is probably all that keeps us with Virgin

I f'ing hate them right now, I have enough on my plate without this too Angry

Is it only us ??

Nope it's not just you

The spam problem has been happening since they moved everyone to the new webmail a few weeks ago Angry

It's been on the known faults page for a while but the estimated resolution date seems to be getting extended all the time.

This is all because Google have retired the ISP tools that the email system was based on and it seems that virgin have rolled out a platform that wasn't robustly tested Sad

my.virginmedia.com/faults/service-status

You can get updates on that page.

This is why nobody I know uses the Virgin/sky/bt email addresses.

That's when the actually provide the Internet service anyway Angry

BertPuttocks · 15/10/2015 10:14

It's happening here too.

Endless spam is pouring in. Marking it as spam temporarily makes it disappear, but it's back again as soon as you log back in. Extremely annoying. Meanwhile the designated spam folder catches only one or two spam-mails a day.

I've only just managed to get them to stop phoning my mobile daily, asking if I want to upgrade to a newer package.

Oh no. Virgin Media have just taken over the provider I had (I'm in Ireland and had upc)

Mind you the customer service from UPC was dire, more response and action from a brick wall

LittleRedSparke · 15/10/2015 10:15

i wouldnt use my internet providers email service, as what happens when you want to get a new one? do you lose your old emails? do you lose your email address?

just get yourself a gmail or yahoo one....

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 15/10/2015 10:16

I have a virginmedia email address, but I'm not getting any spam??? I have never actually had any email issues with them.

LittleRedSparke · 15/10/2015 10:16

(i mean get a new internet/broadband provider)

73dexter · 15/10/2015 10:40

I'm having this problem too. Well, when I am actually able to log into my account anyway Hmm

Cerseirys · 15/10/2015 10:45

Not their email service but their broadband has been shockingly crap for the past week. I rang them last week and was told that the problem would continue for the next 10 days as there was planned upgrade work taking place. Yet they had not informed us of this! I was really annoyed and eventually they agreed to not charge us for those days. They have a lot of their broadband clients over a barrel though, because if you want fibreoptic without the bother of line rental they are the only ones who do it.
