To say that Alan Sugar makes my teeth itch?

Urgh. I mean The Apprentice contestants are another thread altogether, but Alan Sugar is just an asshat. Am I right?!

He's a BBC Simon Cowell in desparate need of a well fitting suit and a haircut.

Yet according to my Facebook feed; he's the stuff of legend GrinShock

AIBU? Are there any other Alan Sugar haters out there?

No one likes him, surely? He's a kind of made for TV, rent-a-Z-list-billionaire businessman, with a terrible line in scripted jokes.

I know someone who worked for him, and he used to sign emails 'Sir A' and later 'Lord A'.

miaowroar · 14/10/2015 23:32

I loath him - I have seen him be rude so many times. Just because you are a millionaire doesn't mean you don't have to have manners. Amstrad computers were shit anyway.

miaowroar · 14/10/2015 23:33

Grr - loathe

BigOCupOfTea · 14/10/2015 23:38

I think he's alright actually, obviously puts on an act for tv.

But you do see a much nicer side to him.

Amstrad computers might be shit but I'm sure the majority of us on here can't say we are as successful as he is.

Dieu · 14/10/2015 23:39

I don't mind him and occasionally find him funny, but agree that he can be rude.

TrevaronGirl · 15/10/2015 00:11

Sugar is an obnoxious little JB upstart.

Oh, I'm SO sorry!

SIR Alan Sugar...

foragogo · 15/10/2015 00:21

I can never understand how he became successful which such a like if shit product?

there must be more to him?

BigOCupOfTea · 15/10/2015 00:23

SIR Alan Sugar...

He's a Lord isn't he?

TrevaronGirl · 15/10/2015 00:26

You are quite right, he has been ennobled.

Even more reason to despair...

Justmyluck1 · 15/10/2015 00:27

M mmm foragofo how old are you?

that shit product enabled poor people like us to buy videos and video cameras in the 80s/90s when the other products out there were astronomically expensive.

Thanks Allen for memories of our kids now transferred into DVDs and kept.

I think he's great.

HelenaDove · 15/10/2015 00:34

Thing is justmyluck he now says he cant understand how poor people can own microwaves.

HelenaDove · 15/10/2015 00:36

The businessman and Apprentice star, who is worth an estimated £1.4bn, told the Times:

“Who are the poor these days? You’ve got some people up north and in places like that who are quite poor, but they all have mobile phones, being poor, and they’ve got microwave ovens, being poor, and they’ve got televisions, being poor. Compare that to 60 years ago. If you really want to know what poor is like go and live where I lived in Hackney, where you didn’t have enough money for the electric, didn’t have a shilling for the meter.”

SilverDragonfly1 · 15/10/2015 08:36

The fact that the wreath he sent to the poor young Apprentice contestant who died was signed 'Lord Sugar' says it all.

hackmum · 15/10/2015 09:04

He's utterly charmless. He had some success in the 80s with his personal computers (an Amstrad PCW was the first computer I owned) but he's had lots of failures since then, including that email/phone type device he came up with. Also, as far as I can see, the programme does not even remotely resemble the way business operates in the real world.

AnonymousBird · 15/10/2015 09:11

I had the misfortune to come across him "back in the day". He is a small bully, no charm at all. His computers were rubbish, but somehow he made a fortune before anyone realised! He spent years fighting all sorts of court battles and there's good reason - he cut corners and was always trying to get one over on people and that rarely ends well.

CreepyCrawly · 15/10/2015 09:18

He has ever such a tiny hands. It's all I can see now during the boardroom bits

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 15/10/2015 09:38

I used to work for the BBC and met him a few times and he was lovely. I think that the apprentice persona is just that, a persona.

And I love The Apprentice! Such great TV :)

Sparklingbrook · 15/10/2015 09:41

I have no problem with him. He's quite dry and funny when I have seen him interviewed.
