The night before last night the following happened
A
I was jolted awake by the electrity going off. Woke and sat there thinking fuck
B
Woke with doorbell ringing
C
Woke with a knock on bedroom door

In all three cases I must have been dreaming as the electricity was still on, there was no one at door and noone in house.

Is it a sign?

Is the grim reaper after me?Hmm

It's the paparazzi you wanna look out for Di....

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2015 10:31

Maybe you need to see a Doctor.

However, if it's a grey haired Scottish bloke who arrives in a blue phone box, I'd start to worry.

SoDiana · 10/10/2015 10:40

The fucker was coming for me.
Seriously though. It wasn't like a dream woke me and I immediately realised it was a dream.
I actually heard these sounds and woke and only realised or presumed they were dreams after exhausting all alternatives

Dh works away a lot. Usually when he first goes I dream all sorts of noises like people knocking the door, somebody walking around on the top floor of the house( our house is on three levels and the top floor isn't used much) and noises that sound like a motor running. I wake up and check and nothing is wrong. I used to be bothered by it now I just think it's my mind playing tricks on me so I roll over and go back to sleep

laffymeal · 10/10/2015 10:54

I used to be woken up by a loud slamming door noise, it was my imagination but freaked me out. I think it can be a sign of stress.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2015 11:02

You don't have blocked ears or a lot of wax do you? That can cause you to hear random noises. Often it's there all the time but there is more background noise during the day so you don't notice it.

imnottoofussed · 10/10/2015 11:04

I was once woken by my dd shouting "mum" from her bedroom on the second floor (my room on third floor). I sat bolt upright in bed in fright because she was actually on holiday abroad with my dm and ddad and I was on my own in the house. I didn't sleep much for the rest of the night I tell you that!

SaySomethingCool · 10/10/2015 14:30

I have really vivid dreams when pregnant...the other night I was stuck in a lift with Jason Donovan and I cried when he sang "tears on my pillow" to me. I actually woke up sobbing, not quite sure if I was supposed to be happy or sad though!

Titsywoo · 10/10/2015 14:33

Its called a hypnogogic hallucination

BathshebaDarkstone · 10/10/2015 14:33

Yy Chaz I get that, I get somebody banging on a piano.

SoDiana · 10/10/2015 15:02

I will have to google the hypno thingy

OP posts:
SoDiana · 10/10/2015 15:12

Well holy heavens. I've googled and that seems to be it. The hypnagogic thing.
Does that mean im hallucinating and should tell my gp or is this normal?Shock

OP posts:
suzannecaravaggio · 10/10/2015 15:12

hynogogic hallucinations can be auditory as well as visual, nothing to worry about

suzannecaravaggio · 10/10/2015 15:14

it's perfectly normal, nothing to worry about SoDiana
think of it as your dreams 'lingering' a little so that they intrude into waking life :)

SilverNightFairy · 10/10/2015 15:17

I often have that terrible falling feeling just as I'm going to sleep. I have heard my name shouted in my ear several times in that period between wake and sleep. But then I am woo, so I vote, yes..you most def have a ghost in your home. I hope not a little girl ghost, they are the worst!

SoDiana · 10/10/2015 15:17

Im on some meds. Could they be causing it? Seriously dont want to find out im losing my marbles.

OP posts:
Titsywoo · 10/10/2015 15:19

Nah normal stuff. Happens more if you are very tired. I get it sometimes.

SoDiana · 10/10/2015 15:22

Silver. Stop. My granny died here in may.
She probably figured that it was an unearthly hour to still be in bed so woke me up lol. Well. Nervous lol. As I look around me......

hypnic jerk, also very common.

Medication can have effects on dreaming SoDiana, nothing to worry about

knackered69 · 10/10/2015 16:12

I woke myself up the other morning at 5am.

I was sitting bolt upright clutching the duvet and singing the time warp. I even remember the lines. It was the bit that goes "it's so dreeaamy - oh fantasy frreeeee me - madness - takes it's toll..."

I was having such a jolly time, clutching the duvet warbling away until I fully woke up.

The knackered ddog was lying across the end of my bed looking like this Hmm

SoDiana · 10/10/2015 16:16

Pmsl at ddog
