Re the tea club?

I wouldn't actually ever do this, but...

My team at work are on a compressed hours working pattern, working 6 days out of 10. The tea club costs £6 for 3 months. I work part time, so I do 4 days in 10. WIBU to pay into the tea club on a pro rata basis, £4 every 3 months?

I kind of see your point, but there are so many variable factors, like individual beverage consumption rates... I drink coffee like someone told me it was endangered, so should probably pay twice as much as everyone else.

When I came back to work part time the tea club person said I could pay in 3/5ths but I was really uncomfortable with that and pay the same as everyone else.

Where do you draw the line? One full timer drinks black coffee where I like milk in mine. I probably 'cost' more than him despite working less days. One full timer just has a tea in the morning and after lunch so again, I have more than them.

I think it would be really unreasonable to expect a 'discount'.

In one of my first jobs i organised the office tea club (started off buying milk into the informally organised one then realised i was the sole contributor ) i was full time but pro rata'd it for part time people so as to be fair but got told i was being anal! Lesson learned: don't participate-where is involved look out for number one !

mutton no sugar, no coffee. Just tea with a small amount of milk. I am largely out of the building so my tea drinking opportunities are limited.

In my old office, the tea club manager made the funds stretch to biscuits. Those were the days.

I did the tea club flounce after leaving that job. Now i fly solo! But yes, anyone who does it on an enduring basis deserves the highest accolades! I was in an office a few years back with not many women where i was pressured into being in a 'handwash and moisturiser' club because the building-supplied handwash was a tad abrasive i never noticed but contributed grumpily because I'm a massive pushover

I was doing 1 day a week and was told to pay pro rata. We had a posh coffe machine though and the rate was £1 per day/£5 per week. Totally not policed but everyone was honest down to IOUs in the money box

If it was some sort of club/event that was £100 a month then I would definitely be pro-rata-ing it.

But for a tea club at £6 a month? YWBU and make everyone

I work part time and pay into the tea club - it would never have occurred to me tbh!

I'm lucky because work provides everything on the beverage front. I drink black coffee, but still collect the milk from the kitchen twice a week, because that's the kind of team player I am!

It would be petty to pay on a pro-rata basis based on days in the office. Just make sure your tea's very milky and well-sugared if it's a bit of a deal.

We pro-rata for part timers 50% regardless of how many days they actually work. Didn't even consider not going!

I pay full price but work 80% and buy my own tea bags to have decaf. I'm being robbed. It's £2.50pm so I don't care.

Take a flask to work?

Pay the normal amount, it's best to be a bit more generous than being the awkward skinflint one.
You are still saving a load of money considering that's equal to about 2 costas!!
Sounds like value to me.
