Mattress trickery

AIBU to think a new mattress is a priority and to have cooked up a plan to get DH to agree? Also, to be a bit miffed that it took cunning to get him to agree? Basically it's 13 years old and ripped, stained I won't go into detail as it's dinner time and I can't bear it! DH has resisted my request to look at new ones saying it's fine as it's cover with bedding etc.
Anyway, as he doesn't change the bedding and see it in it's full horror I decided on a bit of trickery. i casually Hmm asked him to strip the bed for the washing machine...when he came downstairs he exclaimed that the mattress really was a pile of poo and we should get a new one! Job done but it made me wonder what tricks or plans you mumsnetters have cooked up in order to get your way.

YANBU. If DP is not interested in buying a new mattress go and buy one that you like. If he complaints tell him to shut up or let him sleep on the old one whilst you have the new one to your own Grin
